COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
Hops: Challenger and Goldings.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Bottle. Dark ruby colour with small light brown head that turns into a circle in a minute. This beer has medium intensity aroma, mostly of dark chocolate and coffee and there is some caramel, too. A bit watery feeling in mouth with light bitternes at the start and a little more bitterness at aftertaste. OK beer, but nothing outstanding.

Well-balanced but a little weak beverage. Nicely roasted, hints of coffee, somewhat watery.

Very good porter. Nearly as good as their chocolate porter. Looks and smells fantastic

Bottle 500 ml, Appearance: Mahogany brow body, with a tallthick beige head, with very good retention. Head leaves light lacing on the glass. Aroma; burned caramel, light honey notes, dark fruit ( berries) Taste: Sweetish, caramel, honey, molases, berries and some hops tone and citrus acidity balancing the sweetness out, Roasted malt tones are quite in the back. mild bitter finish. Thin body, low carbonation, quite dry palate. Odd Porter which is more Ale-ish as most Porters. Still a good interesting beer. Allthough it could have a bit more body.

Marrone scura con riflessi color caramello, limpida, schiuma beige chiara poco persistente. Forte aroma di caffè tostato e meno marcata liquirizia, caramello, leggermente acida. Stesse note palatali, leggero erbaceo, corpo medio, leggermente acquosa rispetto al corpo, non molto carbonata. Retrolfatto erbaceo, mi ricorda l'oliva.

As with every other St Peter’s beer, comes in a beautiful bottle (I’d rather say flask). Dark brown, almost black, with ruby shades. Tan head. Aroma is low but nice: coffee, liquorice. Thin body. Soft and creamy, metallic on the tongue, bitter finish.

I wasn’t that impressed with this porter. Maybe because it’s an "Old-style" porter it is a different style? The flavors were a bit overwhelming, seemed a bit fruity to me. Not bad, just was a bit too much. The carbonation also seemed a bit low. Has a very nice appearance, just wan’t all that I expected for the price.

DATE TASTED: April 18, 2015... GLASSWARE: HopDevil nonick.. OCCASION: a nightcap after celebrating bro-in-law Gil’s 40th anniversary... APPEARANCE: pitch black body as expected; creamy, substantial head that settles to a 1/2 inch; laces in swaths of brown--and the bottle scores points too... AROMA: definite toffee, burnt cereal malts and chocolate; peat and smoke elements as well... PALATE: a creamy, medium-bodied, mouth-filling porter that finishes with subtlety; mildly active... TASTE: luscious toasted cereal malts and possible Columbus hops create a full-bodied, sweet, semi-lactic taste; enough earthy qualities to create a warming experience... OVERALL: a strong, enjoyable porter that contains all expected aspects of the style; the ABV % is adequate but not noteworthy; St. Peter’s offers another style-appropriate bottle, with cola and peat stoking a working man’s drink...

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a tiny beige head. Nose of caramel and roasted malts. Taste is of caramel, coffee, roasted malts and oak. The finish is bitter with an alcoholic note. A nice and complex porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
