This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Aroma was ok. I donít know what a "old style porter" is supposed to taste like, all I know is that I didnít like it. Way too sweet with a strong maltiness that overwhelms the palate. I donít know what it is about this brewery and malt. This and the IPA are like watered down barley wineís! Maybe they donít fair well travelling all the way from England to the USA.

Bottle opened at home. Snifter pour was heavy dark brown with small tan head. Some lacing. Aroma is sweet milks, cocoa, prunes, raisins, nuts. Taste is not quite as dramatic or exciting as the aroma. Prunes, mild coffee, roasted malts, raisins, vanilla. Dry finish. Thinner body, low carb. Not bad. Not my fav.

Pours a finger and half of tan head on a black body. The aroma is roasted malt, mild coffee. The taste is coffee and chocolate bitterness, mild malt sweet. Simple but effective profile. The texture is thicker and soft around the edges. Itís a solid, everyday drinking porter.

Bottled. Pours a very dark red-brown, almost black, with a small light brown head. Dried fruits, plums, and just a touch of coffee on the nose. Sweet dried and red fruit at the start, then a dry finish with a little smoke. Clean and smooth, but lacking a little body in the finish. Otherwise very good.

Bottle 50cl. Deep dark ruby brown, good frothy light tan head, diminishing slowly, good lacing; roasted malt aroma, coffee, cocoa, caramel; taste medium sweet and bitter, caramel, chocolate; light to medium body, watery to oily texture, average carbonation; kinda thin mild bittersweet aftertaste, chocolate notes; a ílightí porter, lacks body but despite that pleasant to drink, kinda session porter.

Pours cola brown with a thin beige head. Aroma of roasted coffee and cocoa with a little sweetness. Taste is slightly bitter with notes of chocolate with a touch of dark fruitiness. Nice, classic, easy to drink beer. Nothing crazy.
