This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Distinctive medicine style bottle. More amber in color than most porters. Head is a soapy tan with plenty of retention. Aroma is a delightful dark fruit. Plums and raisins abound and a hint of smoke is an undertone. Flavor is more tart than expected and plenty smoky. It is a sweet beer, though, and the malt takes some different turns. Interestingly, the malt flavor that is most common appears while licking the lips after a drink. Dark fruit can be found but it is underneath. Chocolate and coffee are also found. More of the dark fruit makes its way to the taste buds late in the glass. Mostly this porter has a smoky tart flavor and a little less hops would be an improvement. It is an interesting beer to rate in that I really like everything about it except the flavor. The flavor is good but after the other categories it is a disappointment.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Dark brown with ruby tinges and a minimal tan head. Roasted malt aroma, hints of chocolate, nuts, toffee. Similar flavors, quite dry throughout, some sweetness up front, but settles into a dry bitterness.

Közepes, tartós hab, fekete szín. Pörkölt malátás, kávés, kissé kakaós illat. Pörkölt malátás, feketecsokis ízvilág. Utóíze pörkölt kesernye, pici csoki, nem túl hosszú. Fincsi klasszikus porter, a könnyed és a közepes testesség határán.

500ml bottle. Very dark brown/mahogany colour, almost black, with a one finger tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, biscuity, hint of coffee and dark chocolate. Taste of roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel, some bitter coffee notes in the finish. Lovely creamy texture, well balanced, soft carbonation. Really nice porter.

ASPETTO: marrone molto scuro, praticamente impenetrabile a bicchiere pieno. Schiuma marroncino chiaro, fine, poco abbondante e poco persistente. AROMA: aroma non intenso, ma ben avvertibile sentori di leggero marzapane e tostato. GUSTO: tostato, liquirizia e un leggero marzapane le fanno da padrone. Chiude con un leggero amarognolo tostato. Corpo leggero, carbonizzazione media. CONCLUSIONE: birra pulita e ben fatta, che disseta e dŕ soddisfazioni.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Cigarette City. Aroma is roasted malt, toffee. Appearance is dark, dark mahogany--almost black--with finger-width light brown head with poor retention but decent lacing. Taste is roasted malt with dark fruits and toffee, hint of bitter coffee at end. Palate is medium bodied with creamy, thick texture, soft carbonation and mostly bitter, dry finish. Overall, a decent amount going on and a nice change from American-style porters.

Appearance: very dark brown clear colour, some little head which dissipates quickly. Some carbonation is visible albeit not a lot. Aroma: very nice, complex aroma, intense nutty aroma and very biscuity. Complex old ale character is noticeable. Caramel and chocolate notes. Very nice. Flavour: rather mild but complex. Nutty and a bit spicy, some biscuit malt. Some hops shines through as does some bitterness but only very mildly. Really great porter.

Nice dark color but the head is gone quickly. Aroma is dark malts and caramel, deep toffee, some maple syrup. Flavor: Starts as a sweet, rich, malty brew that quickly turns into a very complex and pleasant, mature and flowery beverage with an extremely balanced and tasty end. This is an excellent beer, from one of the best breweries in the world.

This beer had some nice porter qualities especial in the flavor but some of the accompanying flavors left me a bit underwhelmed overall. The body was watery in feel with a bit more carbonation than i like. Decent stuff but wouldnt grab this again.
