This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Distinctive medicine style bottle. More amber in color than most porters. Head is a soapy tan with plenty of retention. Aroma is a delightful dark fruit. Plums and raisins abound and a hint of smoke is an undertone. Flavor is more tart than expected and plenty smoky. It is a sweet beer, though, and the malt takes some different turns. Interestingly, the malt flavor that is most common appears while licking the lips after a drink. Dark fruit can be found but it is underneath. Chocolate and coffee are also found. More of the dark fruit makes its way to the taste buds late in the glass. Mostly this porter has a smoky tart flavor and a little less hops would be an improvement. It is an interesting beer to rate in that I really like everything about it except the flavor. The flavor is good but after the other categories it is a disappointment.

God og behagelig engelsk porter. Tilpas med bitterhed og sødme. Kan anbefales.

Pours Dark reddish brown, slighty clear, with off-white foamy head. Visually medium carbonation. Aroma: rich malt aroma, which takes on coffee, toffee, dark chocolate, supported with hop aroma in the background, with notes of dark fruits. Flavor is similar: strong malt flavors, which takes on coffee, toffee, with hop flavors in the background. Body is moderate medium, carbonation also, texture is smooth.

1 pint bottle at world of beer for is a very deep brown with reddish tint. Very cool looking green bottle. Aroma of licorice and chocolate. Whitehead dissipates quickly. Full bodied. Definitely an imported feel to a porter.

Bottle opened at home. Snifter pour was heavy dark brown with small tan head. Some lacing. Aroma is sweet milks, cocoa, prunes, raisins, nuts. Taste is not quite as dramatic or exciting as the aroma. Prunes, mild coffee, roasted malts, raisins, vanilla. Dry finish. Thinner body, low carb. Not bad. Not my fav.

Pours a finger and half of tan head on a black body. The aroma is roasted malt, mild coffee. The taste is coffee and chocolate bitterness, mild malt sweet. Simple but effective profile. The texture is thicker and soft around the edges. It’s a solid, everyday drinking porter.

Bottled. Pours a very dark red-brown, almost black, with a small light brown head. Dried fruits, plums, and just a touch of coffee on the nose. Sweet dried and red fruit at the start, then a dry finish with a little smoke. Clean and smooth, but lacking a little body in the finish. Otherwise very good.

Cask at the Jerusalem Tavern in Clerkenwell. Strong hints of coffee, some chocolate, vanilla and caramel along with roasted malt. Very smooth mouthful. Lovely beer.
