Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Medium dark, with a slight roasted flavor and medium body - all dead on for this traditional blending of a dark old ale and young light ale. It had a bit of a sharp taste, though, that I found unpalatable.

A thin, dark porter with a complex roasted coffee malt with a hint of dark fruit (plums?) in the finish. Moderate hops from what I could taste, fairly bitter but overall a good porter.

I was pretty amped to try this one. Pours a deep brown with a off white head. Caramel coffee aroma with some lacing. This had more of a belgian taste than I was expecting. Not bad though it was not as good as I expected it would be.

Bright auburn color, tan bubbly head. Milk chocolate nose with a touch of roasted coffee and light organic notes. The nose is quite pleasing with hints of chocolate. The body is coffeeish at the front with a slightly sweet milk chocolate middle. The end turns into some light organic bitternss that lingers. Bittersweet finish. Nice porter, light yet tastey.

Bottle. Pretty decent stuff. Nice soft almost oaty mouthfeel. Licorice and chocolate and of course roasted malt, soft, smooth, with some decent bitterness and som elight acidity. Pleasant porter.

Distinctive medicine style bottle. More amber in color than most porters. Head is a soapy tan with plenty of retention. Aroma is a delightful dark fruit. Plums and raisins abound and a hint of smoke is an undertone. Flavor is more tart than expected and plenty smoky. It is a sweet beer, though, and the malt takes some different turns. Interestingly, the malt flavor that is most common appears while licking the lips after a drink. Dark fruit can be found but it is underneath. Chocolate and coffee are also found. More of the dark fruit makes its way to the taste buds late in the glass. Mostly this porter has a smoky tart flavor and a little less hops would be an improvement. It is an interesting beer to rate in that I really like everything about it except the flavor. The flavor is good but after the other categories it is a disappointment.

Very interesting beer. Medium brown red colour with a thin tan coloured head. Aroma is dark chocolate and bread with a roasted character as well. Lots of things happening flavour wise, with chocolate, coffee, rye bread, and a toasty character all jumbled in there somewhere. Light to medium bodied and smooth.

Dark brown (almost black) colour. Low head but decent lacework. Faint roasty aroma. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel. Roasted flavour with notes of chocolate and coffee. Bitter finish. "Old Style"???
