EFC1878 (291), Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Aug 13, 2009 Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Colour is on the orange side of amber with a white head that soon disappears. Floral aroma with some malty sweetness. Starts off slightly sweet but has a bitter kick. However, the finish is a bit chemical. Right palate for the ABV. Decent, but lose that nasty edge, please. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Aug 11, 2009 Bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow, white head. Aroma is skunky hoppy and malty. Flavor is malt, caramel, honey wheat, hops bitterness. A decent blend and very easy to drink. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Aug 9, 2009 Flask. Pours a golden body with a white head. Dry with hints of grass citrus and earth y qualities. Apple skin and a lighter sweet bread y body with a light bitter finish. Decent. Travlr (698), Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 4, 2009 Nice bottle. Clear golden, no head. Aroma of lowers and grass. Full bodied, taste of light malt with mild citrus background, and dominant hops throughout. Not technically an ale, with the hops as prominent as they are - better classed as a bitter.
The nicest organic beer I’ve tried. Bejaaamin (110), London, Ontario, Canada Aug 1, 2009 Bright gold colour, thin whispy head. nose of apples, grass, citrus, brown sugar. Went down smoothly, very caramely, spicy, sharp bitterness. Fair. Love the bottles. MrRoss (614), Delta, British Columbia, Canada Jul 16, 2009 First or all, I LOVE the bottles used by St Peters brewery...they could almost be a hip flask for beer. Now there’s an interesting idea... Also, their labels are among the best I’ve ever seen. This one poured a slightly hazy amber/orange colour, but where’s the head? I might as well’ve poured me a glass of apple/orange juice. The aroma fared much better, being, at least to my unsensitive snout, a combination of mild citrus and spice. The taste was bitter hops but also clean and crisp, very enjoyable. Mouthfeel and aftertaste were both on the comfortable end of the scale. theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jul 16, 2009 16.9 oz bottle enjoyed at Blanc Burgers + Bottles in Leawood, Kansas. They poured this into a Shaker Pint. Pour is hazy orange and gold with only a few soapy cream bubbles on the top - this was mostly due to how the waiter poured it. Why won’t places either A) learn how to pour a beer - or - B) Not get so offended if I ask to pour my own beer? The aroma is softly toasty biscuit malt, very natural and fresh smelling. Behind that is some hay and straw, though that is very mild. Aroma presence is very mild, what is there is floral. The taste is initially very flat and watery tasting, though, I almost immediately adjusted and began to enjoy this. The flavor is mostly the grainy, toasty, biscuit sweet malt of the nose, with some ever so mild but pleasant floral hop bitterness. There is earthiness and straw and hay near the finish. The palate, as mentioned, was almost entirely flat, medium to thin, the graininess gave it body. Overall, a nice drinkable beer. skoll (123), Traverse City, Michigan, USA Jul 6, 2009 Bottle (as English Ale). Pours hazy golden orange with tight but small white head. The aroma is caramel and some grassiness, some buttered toast, and a brief whiff of skunk. The flavor is quite grassy with lemon, caramel, and toffee notes. The finish is slightly dry, toasty. goes nice with the chicken dish that I had.
