MoritzF (4863), Bochum, Germany Jul 6, 2009 (bottle) Hazy, orange-golden colour with a short but creamy and dense off-white foam. Limey and spicy hoppy aroma with a well blended, minimal toasty malt-character. Bitter flavour with a light malty sweetness, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Soft malt-character with a good dash of aromatic hops; bitter and slightly fruity finish. A likeable standard Ale (04.VII.09). durhambeer (1187), Durham, USA Jun 29, 2009 Pours hazy deep golden with faint white head. Pilsner-like hope profile and dry palate. Some apple and grass notes. A bit sweet, and somewhat metallic, but refreshing. mrhoppy (209), Santa Clara, California, USA Jun 21, 2009 Yeah baby this beer rocks! light delicious aromatic bitter and hoppy. Quality and balance all the way through. Beautiful sweet aroma. Ever so slight skunk in a good way. Another must for the fridge. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 7, 2009 Poured a nice orange colour with an off-white small sized head and a lot of messy lacing. There is an interesting aroma in my glass with its dark apple and spice, something that makes me think of oranges and excellent prominent fruity hops. Taste is suprisingly bitter initially (pine, sort of not-sweet-orange(very weak)), but it fades to a soft tangy fruit flavour. These hops they’ve stuffed into my bottle are awesome and give off some very stiff bitter flavours - way more bitter than I remember. Mouthfeel is really good - smooth with ample carbonation, medium bodied. Finishes with a zesty bitterness and a touch of acidness. Man, the hops really try to wreck your mouth!. Really good beer, a bit different but too much spice for me to drink more than one..(times have obviously changed as I think that this beer kills now! The hops are incredible!). Very lengthy hard bitter finish. I knew this was good, I just forgot how good. A must buy. Geiserich (1775), Vienna, Austria Jun 7, 2009 Bottle: Light orange color. Some grainy aromas but more bitter hop notes. Flavor with bitter hops, citrus hops and a medical bitterness. Some aroma hop notes in the end. Dry long, bitter finish. Not my beer. RHeastings (380), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 6, 2009 Enjoyed from a 1 pint green bottle in a pub glass. Given the fact that I had heard previously of St. Peters, I was pretty excited to try this one, yet wary of the fact that it came in a green bottle. My fears were confirmed when I smelled the beer after taking off the cap...skunked to the highest degree. However, given the price and the fact that no real drinker ever pours out a beer, I decided to look past the skunked-ness and move forward...
There is a nice note of toasted malt toward the middle to back end of this one, along with a nice finish. It was a shame that light exposure destroyed what otherwise seemed to be a well-crafted beer. Perhaps the brewers will read enough of these sorts of reviews and step into the 19th century and use brown bottles. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark May 28, 2009 Bottle, 4.5% at KØ09. Mild green apple aroma. Clear golden colour. Mildly aley flavour, fruity and mild. Subtle. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA May 24, 2009 Sampled from a 16.9 oz green bottle this beer poured an orange-amber color with a trace of a white head that quickly faded. The aroma was sour and tangy basic ale but also seemed a bit light struck. The flavor was bitter, sour and tart floral hops and a touch of nut but slightly light struck. Unimpressive.
