daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada Oct 1, 2006 Maybe I just got a bad bottle. Reviewing other rating it seems like I’m the lowest rater. I thoroughly did not enjoy this one and was tempted to not finish it, but in the spirit of fairness decided to give it a chance... If you want to know what your ancestors drank on Fridays while discussing the consistency of horse manure by all means try this one. Poured very hazy and remained throughout. Very bitter tasting with hints of hay and metal. Hardly any head whatsoever and very tangy aroma. If this is indeed beer the way our ancestors brewed it, it’s a surprise to me that the excellent beverage known to us as beer today ever stood the test of time. Slacks (481), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Sep 30, 2006 500ml Bottle: Pours quite nice, actually, a light orange with one-finger foam head and excellent lacing throughout. Aroma is almost entirely hops, very floral, and touches of citrus and malt, more notably as it warms. Flavour is just bitter, far too bitter for my tastes. I tried every tasting trick in the book with this one but all returned the same verdict. If you dig you’ll track down a bit of caramel-ish malt. No thanks, not for me. Quillaraymi (88), USA Sep 25, 2006 First of all the beautiful bottle that I had was yellow. I loved this beer! Nice golden color and smooth in the mouth, no crown almost. I think is the type of beer that goes with everything! AmazonMatt (284), Panama Sep 21, 2006 What do you guys want? Let’s try rating this excellent beer to the style. Not every beer tries to be a hop monster. To start with, I loved the presentation in the old school bottle. It poured a lemon yellow with decent carbonation and a mellow head. In the mouth there was a complexity of honey, lavander and iced tea flavors. This is a beer I could drink every day for the rest of my life, I am not sure that I could say that about every beer that I’ve rated highly. Special thanks to my wife, Peggy, for bringing this beer down from Atlanta. Diogène (544), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Sep 15, 2006 Updated: Jun 18, 2009Bottle from LCBO Rideau-King Edward in Ottawa. I love st Peters Bottles! Light golden with some haziness and a medium white head that vanishes quickly. The aroma is dominated by hops and citrus. Pretty bitter, some citrus notes, but the malt could be a little more present. I do enjoy this beer, but I don’t think it deserves a much higher rating due to the fact that the main charater of this beer comes from hops and doesn’t have a great complexity. donrajin (233), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA Sep 7, 2006 Very typical English ale. Very much like a bitter without any real hop flavor or character, just bitter with very little malt backbone. Typical to style I guess, just not my thing. Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden Sep 6, 2006 (Bottle at Haket, Göteborg) Pours hazy orange. Malty, corn aroma. Some small hoppy smell. Taste: Weak malty, hoppy mixture. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA Sep 2, 2006 Decent-sized foamy white head, a nice golden color with a very slight haziness to it. Aroma was predominantly hoppy and citrusy with hints of yeast grains and malt. The flavors were mostly of malt and roasted grains, with some elements of breadiness/yeast, and a somewhat hoppy and dry finish. Not bad, but not great.
