The flavours in this beer definately intensify as the beer warms. There is definately a fruity flavour to this beer, possibly apricot but I’m not sure. Definite hints of caramel as well. Finishes bitter but not too bitter. Don’t drink this one too cold. Excellent brew. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 1, 2006 "English Ale" on the label. Thin head, mild aroma of fresh citrus. And maybe pear. Translucent amber in colour. Heavily carbonated. Very hoppy - bitter. Malty sweetness on the palate as it warms. Surprisingly refreshing. Great. Similar to Mill Street’s Tankhouse Ale (only sweeter). | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 15, 2006 Pale yellow pour with a very generous foamy white head. The thing that stood out most about this beer was the generous carbonation. A mark against it in my book. The flavor is mostly on the hoppy side, although not as hoppy as an English ale should be. This is ok. bubbleflubber (890), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 13, 2006 Bottled as "English Ale"... Skunky hops with a "tad" of caramel to the nose... Pours a light orange-amber into the glass with small head, good retention and decent lace. This beer is quite dry, as the dry-hopped flavor lets in very few hues, but the ones that creep in are of slight lemon-citrus and maybe a hint of malt. Lingering dry-hopped finish allows for a long bitterness, some skunk to it as well. The beer has a light, fruity body to it. It does open up a little as it warms (a little more malt, caramel and sweet citrus), but not enough to pull the brew up very far. I’m not the greatest fan of this, as it seems quite unilateral. Unilateral can be fine if the whole is enjoyable, but this is a bit hard to fathom as a widely-accepted fave. mcnally (114), Burbank, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 13, 2006 Called English Ale on the label. I wasn’t into this beer much at all. Maybe I had a bad bottle, but aroma was fairly skunky with some hops. Decent pour, orange gold with a sudsy head. Slightly sweet taste with a surprising amount of hops, especially in the finish. Good mouthfeel. wxman (585), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 11, 2006 English Ale label. Golden color with a big eggwhite like head. Aroma is sweet candy and hop flower. Carmelized malt flavor with a fairly big hop flavor along with notes of maple syrup and grapefruit. Pretty decent brew, but pricey for what you get.
