BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2005 Coolest thing bout this beer is the vessel. Makes me feel so..erm 1800’s! aye! a grassy taste with a smoothe overhall. A few spices baked into the mix but not very profound. Some malt mixed with some hops with not to much of a bitter bite. This, in my opinion, would be a session beer at a pub. This is my first St Peters. They have some more availible but only in the big bottles and Im an only beer drinker here...as far as new stuff. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 4, 2005 (12 oz bottle: $2.99 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Popping the cap, you’d expect at least a little noise, but nothing at all with this beer. It was like opening an empty bottle. The vigorous pour yields only a few large bubbles with obviously disappear quickly, leaving not even a hint of head or lace. I’m a little worried, but let’s see how this baby tastes. This is a light to medium bodied ale with a moderate maltiness, a mildly bitter and spicy hops, some grassy notes, and a fairly prominent smokiness that emerges in the finish. The grassy and perhaps slightly fruity nose is pleasant, but not especially aromatic. The palate is very lightly carbonated, which is more than I expected, but there’s also some tanginess from the hops, so the mouthfeel isn’t dead. Dark golden color and slightly hazy. Given that, from my experience, St. Peter’s beers can often be sour and spoiled, I’m just happy that this one is healthy. I’m even happier that it’s actually a pretty nice, subtle beer. dyetube (397), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 4, 2005 the aroma is sprucelike with what I would call a pilzen smell. it has a hoppy flavor and dry taste and finish with little to no head. The hoppiness kinda lingers a little. this beer doesn’t quite muster to a hoppy beer like an ipa, but nor does it taste like a good english bitter. not a bad beer, but I’ve had PLENTY that are much better. mymrbig (9), USA does not count Aug 25, 2005 Golden/Copper color with small, white head. Smells mostly of hopps and citrus. Creamy, hoppy flavor. Very smooth for a hoppy beer. Very pleased! The bottle read "St Peters English Ale". monty (39), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 24, 2005 24 August 05. St Peters Organic Ale. Bottle.
There’s a nice crisp hop aroma here (Fuggles or Goldings if I had to guess), but you really have to snoop around to find it. Not much else - kinda wet-grassy.
Pours a cloudy golden, but seems to clear as it warms (?). Uck - hay and...something else. I wouldn’t think there’s corn or rice in this, but that’s what it tastes like. Quite a (negative) contrast to the Cream Stout. Disappointing. ante (2904), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 19, 2005 dark golden with a small bubbly head. Unclean aroma of biscuits and grassy hops. Nutty and grassy flavour with nots of orange-peels. Thin mouthfeel. Metallic aftertaste. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 10, 2005 Pour is light amber and clear with a thin off white head...smell is hoppy with some pine and grass...definately smells English...taste is much hoppier than I expected...quite bitter, leaving a wooly aspect on the tongue... Miguel (1181), Saint-Ours, Quebec, Canada Aug 10, 2005 Robe blonde très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche persistente. Très légère. Amertume en finale.
