GMP (16), USA Jul 5, 2005 Bottle - seemed to survive the journey to the US better than it’s porter counterpart, but it is still not as good as it was at the brewery.
A nice English ale with good aroma, taste and appearance. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jun 9, 2005 Typical English ale look; clear with little head. Biscuit, butter, toffee and vanilla in the aroma. Rather thin on the palate with some astringency. Quite bitter. A little malt and caramel with metallic flavors(maybe from the hops.) Roachie (13), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 6, 2005 Nice cloudy golden look with almost no head. Good malty nose, which leads to a malty bitter flavour with hints of citrus(lemon?). Leaves a nice airy after taste at the roof of the mouth. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England May 19, 2005 Updated: Nov 8, 2005 Cask at County Hotel (JDW) Ashford. I’ve had this beer in a bottle (disappointing) at St Peter’s Jeresulem Tavern in London (okay) and now on hand pulled draught and I would say that the hand pulled is the best I have had it. I have read the other ratings and I feel that this beer loses something in the bottle. This is a golden ale, with hoppy tangerine notes on the nose. Slightly creamy in the mouth, with acidic creamy finish wiht more tangerine/orange flavours and dryness. I like it in this form madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark May 17, 2005 Bottled: Man these beers are similar. Just had a golden ale that tasted the same. Golden coloured. Unclear. Has an off white head. Sweet and malty aroma and some hops in the flavour. Is thin and watery. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA May 12, 2005 Hazy blonde pour with hopcit aroma.
