iambeer (255), Ontario, Canada Apr 6, 2005 The colour was a bit cloudy, had a odd lacing all the way through. A better ale from England then most I’ve tried. Te aroma was a bit off. Crisp Commodore (112), Ontario, Canada Apr 2, 2005 Really neat bottle. Poured a golden colour with a slight head. Aroma of hops, and first bite is classically English bitter. Decent carbonation. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA Mar 26, 2005 Golden body, small head, light floral nose. Somewhat flat, honeyed, floral, mild bitterness. GiBrew (171), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada Mar 12, 2005 Pours copper colour, a little cloudy. Head left a little lacing. Aroma is a bit skunky with a hint of herbal tea. Mostly bitter malt flavour. Finish is kinda bland. OK...but not that great. Eructoblaster (1477), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Mar 7, 2005 Dark gold to light amber body topped with an average white frothy head. Fresh hoppy/bready aroma with various herbal, flowery and spicy notes. Very refreshing and well-balanced taste. Moderate carbonation and lovely hoppy flavors. Ends with a long bitter finish. Very good example of English Ale. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Feb 22, 2005 A musty orange in appearance. Has a fiant spiciness that lingers throughout. Hops are not strong, but the balance of flavors works well. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Feb 19, 2005 Opened the bottle to a rancid aroma that turned both sour and earthy. Poured a murky dark amber/orange... which was equally intriguing and off-putting. No head. Bottle-conditioned, particles too small to note. Moderately bitter, woody taste. I’m sure it has it’s place, but I won’t buy again. asheft (1374), Marburg, Germany Feb 17, 2005 Foggy orange-gold with a wispy, filmy head and big bubbly ring. Aroma was pretty weak: mostly caramel and some apple and candy. After the weak aroma, I was pleasantly surprised by the robust caramel and toffee malt flavour in the taste. That flavour was complimented by some spicy maltiness and and sufficient but not too much bittering. There was a faint corn flavour at the tail end as well and some fruit that included apple. Medium body and low to medium carbonation. Very clean finish for an English ale. I would love to try some of this stuff out of a cask.
