Union (22), Horse Shoe, North Carolina, USA Jun 4, 2004 1770 England huh? Tastes like it. Seriously dude, this is one bitter ass beer. I don’t think anyone actually buys this and says "I'm ready to party." The first sip is as bad the last drop. If you can hammer the 1 pint bottle, you can win some bets. Avoid this. Come on dude, the lobster backs aint coming. One of the worst I've had...Really! MrBeerUSA (40), HorseShoe, North Carolina, USA Jun 4, 2004 You’ve heard of the Headless Horseman, well the is the beer version. And I would say it was brewed in the same time period. It tastes like liquid dirt! They weren’t kidding when they said organic. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 31, 2004 Pale golden-orange colour with a thin white head. Spicy citrus hop aroma with subtle sweet malt. Flavour is somewhat unlike anything I’ve had before. A sour, astringent maltiness, woody and fruity. Finish is moderately hoppy and the beer is very lightly carbonated which makes it seem fairly creamy. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA May 31, 2004 Pours almost the color of apple juice or lighter iced tea. No head. Aroma is hops, some cardboard, grass, and cereal. Taste is a little bit better. A bit sweeter than expected but some more grassy notesand an odd taste towards the finish that I can’t pick out but it’s not the most pleasant thing I’ve ever tasted. Mouthfeel is a bit bitter but otherwise tolerable and the finish is dry with a hop twang. Not as good as I would have hoped. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 29, 2004 golden colour. Grassy aroma, some hops..a fairly aggressive bitterness, crisp, finish is dry. brownaler (379), Topsail Beach, North Carolina, USA May 23, 2004 Pretty nice Organic Ale. I don’t think it was worth the $9 for 4 bottles, but has a good aftertaste that lingers a bit. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 20, 2004 A pretty decent beer. Nice floral hoppy nose, dark yellow colour, light to medium body. Taste is slightly bitter as you would expect, with a unique hoppy aftertaste that may suggest herb or earthiness (I didn’t realize it was an “organic ale” until after my first taste – the bottle we get calls it “St. Peter’s English Ale” with organic in smaller print that I missed originally). Medium length finish that was quite enjoyable. A nice surprise, I used to think these guys were just gimmicky with the bottles, but this and the Old Style Poter have been quite good. frankR (145), Davis, California, USA May 15, 2004 Yellow color, completely diminishing head. Nose of malts and some earth tones. Very thin palate. Flavor is malty, some hops and earth tones. Nothing memerable about this.
