Taste is slightly bitter as you would expect, with a unique hoppy aftertaste that may suggest herb or earthiness (I didn’t realize it was an “organic ale” until after my first taste – the bottle we get calls it “St. Peter’s English Ale” with organic in smaller print that I missed originally). Medium length finish that was quite enjoyable. A nice surprise, I used to think these guys were just gimmicky with the bottles, but this and the Old Style Poter have been quite good. frankR (145), Davis, California, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 15, 2004 Yellow color, completely diminishing head. Nose of malts and some earth tones. Very thin palate. Flavor is malty, some hops and earth tones. Nothing memerable about this. MrManning (1643), London, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 8, 2004 A solid brew indeed. Pours a dark yellow body with a nice head. Aromas are very hoppy, with some perfume qualities as well. Taste is hoppy bitterness with some mild herbal hints. Nice lacing left behind. Leaves a nice bitter aftertaste. Nice. heemer77 (4303), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2004 Bottle. Pours with little head yet has some lacing. A deep orange color with some gold. Very inviting appearance. The smell is light orange with some sugar cookie. The taste is a medium hoppy citrus. This has a medium mouthfeel and some character. Definitely a solid beer. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 2, 2004 Bottled. Aroma of damp wood, gentle amber colour with very thin head, subtle hoppy/woody taste, flower stalk finish. Little lacing from watery head. Great bottle, though. sayravai (3729), Helsinki, Finland
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 24, 2004 (Bottled) Amber color with a tiny head. An interesting, soapy citrus aroma with some sweetness, and hops resembling the scent of fallen autumn leaves. Sweetish, malty flavor with a bitter finish. Medium-bodied, creamy and oily palate with smooth carbonation. A pleasant British ale with an autumn feel. Not much character, but I didn't even expect that. Braudog (3752), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 13, 2004 Poured from the unique bottle like a homebrew --- big airy head with little carbonation. Metallic yellow-orange hue. Virtually no aroma, just lightly creamy citrus. The beer is very smooth and light on the tongue with a nice tart citric edge without too much. Nice light ale. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 1, 2004 Pale orange body with mild carbonation and loose soapy white head. Buttery lightly toasted English malt aroma with a touch of underlying woody hops and a hint of apple. Medium citrusy acidic flavor with more hop woodiness. I was expecting something a little better after thoroughly enjoying the Cream Stout and Old-Style Porter. Unfortunately this one is closer to their Golden Ale.
