Aroma of lemon and ginger. Nice ginger flavour with a pleasant herbal bitterness in the finish.

Light golden color with a small white head. The taste is watery with lemon and ginger as the dominating tastes. Not worth it imho

Cask Conditioned, at the Jerusalem Tavern, London. Golden ale with a light sudsy head. Clear, distinct and unquestionably lemon and ginger aroma. Tastes like mums cough-medicine. For me these sorts of flavours are to remote to be introduced into a normal beer. I’ve been avoiding this for some time but today my hand was forced.

Im going against the grain on this one.I really liked it.
the colour is pale gold with shots of yellow through the glass. It glows.the nose is hops and lemon predominantly, but I can just smell malt in there too.
On the taste: real good, but I love ginger beer.Straight forward lemon and ginger with a real nice blend of malt and hops, spice is just noticeable and if you try hard you may taste licorice root.
On the body/drink ability:well it is interesting, slightly smooth, silky and oily all at once, yet very dry on the finish, the ginger sits in your mouth well after the last swallow, real nice.(and surprisingly has a fair bit of carbonation to it.)
I think this beer has been under-rated so far...give it a go.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2004 The immediate impression of the flavor is DRAIN POUR, but after several more sips to let the shock wear off and the palate fully adjust, it's really just smoky ginger ale that gives you a buzz; Perhaps here's the secret to drinking this seemingly medicinal beer in the beginning: take a big swig, lightly swish it in your mouth for several seconds without swallowing (numb the taste buds to the ginger?), and the flavor of the underlying beer is eventually able to at least somewhat fight through the ginger, and that flavor is mildly malty with a little bit of slightly bitter hops; Once swallowed, the Atlas-strength ginger, the citrus, the fairly strong sweetness, and the ashtray smokiness play havoc with the tongue; But when all is said and done, it's definitely not beer-like, but not horrible either; The beer is light bodied; The color is a combination of light golden, orange and yellow; The nose is most definitely ginger with a fair amount of citrus as well, and smells very medicinal; In fact, the aroma is oddly pleasant on its own, but not when it eminates from a beer; Ivory head is mostly comprised of large bubbles and quickly fades; No lacing

Malakin nailed this one. Flavor is truly reminiscent of cigarette ashtrys. Down the sink goes mine as well. Gotta be a bad bottle.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2008 A big mouth full of cigarette ashtrays. Down the sink it went. Worst beer I’ve had this year.
Maybe this was a bad bottle, but judging from the other reviews I don’t want to try it again.

Hazy amber, loose fast fading head.Nose seems more ginger than lemon.Gross ginger flavor tastes like lemon rinds have been added, Horrible. One of the top 10 worst beers I have ever had

Thin orange-amber and flat, no head or carbonation. Aroma strong with ginger and lite lemon. Flavour is all ginger with a lemon finish. Hard to find hops behind the ginger. Thin body. Seems like an iced tea-like beverage rather than a beer. Ginger hangs around for a long time. Interesting change of pace.

Golden colour with not much head and no lace on the glass. Very strong ginger aroma. Also strong ginger flavour with a little bit of lemon coming through. Not strong, but the ginger is a little overwhelming. Might be better with a less emphasis on the ginger and more on the lemon.
