UPDATED: MAR 18, 2007 A beautiful red beer, with a small white head that disappears quickly. The aroma is hoppy with strong roasted and caramelly notes. The flavour begins malty and finishes with some hoppy bitterness. The aftertaste is quite though not powerful. The body has not enough power to be called strong ale, however it’s a very nice beer.

Bottle, 5.1%. Clear dark amber with tiny off-white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, caramel and hop. Flavour is malt, fruit, caramel, medium sweet, hop and a little bitter.

Bottle. Deep, dark amber with a small off-white head. Aromas are malty with spices and some fruitiness. Dry with burnt toffee notes. Flavours are toffee malts with dry, bitter burnt sugar notes. Initially sweet, then bitter, grapefruit follows. Pretty decent.

Tasted in Toronto. Tasted in dimple mug. Appearance is rust / orange / copper with thin but sustained white foamy head. Aroma is slightly bitter, somewhat floral with only a marginal hint of sweetness. Flavour is balanced between hoppyness and maltiness although fairly thin. All in all not a very memorable ale.

A golden amber ale with a rich thick lacing off white head. Aroma of wet dough, treacle and grass. In mouth, a rather grassy malt, lightly sweet, with light nuttyness, and roasted malts. Medium bodied. Bottle marked E186.

Bottle from LCBO. Dark amber, small white head. Mild earthy malt and hop aroma. Similar flavour, mild malt and hop bitterness, light astringency in the finish. Earthy lingering aftertaste. Light zesty hops as it warms up a bit. Average palate. Average, pleasant but not exciting English style brew.
