Bottle from the Utobeer stall in Borough Market. Pours light copper with a slight white head. Aroma is peat, but not at a Paradox level. Flavor is very smoky/peaty and it’s difficult to get much else out of it. Great ale for a smoke fix.

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Clear golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of peat, whisky malts, hint of earth, hint of lager-like notes. Flavour is light-sweet peat, minerals, light sweet malts, bitter and peaty finish. Very watery, still tasty enough because of the peat, but no depth at all.

Bottle: Golden, unclear to hazy, no head to speak of, distinctive aromas of burnt wood, a bit fishy; not very dry bitter/sweet flavour, light bodied, burnt wood detectable again in the sweet-malty finish.Oops! A scotch ale? I guess this is a smoked ale of minor quality…

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Slightly unclear yellow color, small white head that diminishes quickly but leaves fair lacing. Lots of peat in the aroma. Taste has even more peat, peated whisky, slightly fingerpaint I used as a kid and malts. I think it’s exactly what was intended and I guess it’s nice if you like peated beers but it’s not my thing.

Bottle @ home thx to benzai. Hazy dark yellow colour with a lacing white head. Smells wood, whisky, oak, peat, ash, tar. Tastes oak, whisky, peat, smokey, tar, ash, earth. Thin to medium body, soft carbo. Too peaty for me.

Bright clear gold - amber beer. Small white head. Crispy palate. Smoky peat dominates the beer. Whisper of citrus. More smoky peat before the crisp finish. Lingering smoky aftertaste with some hop bitterness. Not as full on as the Saints but still quite extreme!

Ciekawe i intrygujące piwo, kolejny raz ten jeden z najmniejszych browarów w Anglii mnie zaskakuje. Zapach dymiony, torfowy i wędzony. W smaku intensywnie torfowo smakuje, edzony słód także dominuje i przypomina pieczone mięso z grila. Drewniane i spruchniałe nuty zapachowe są powalające, zapach strychu i dymu z ogniska. A to wszystko dzięki torfowi z Whisky. Polecam nie tylko miłośniką szkockiej Whisky.
