"Whisky Beer"
A superb balanced beer with ’smokey’ overtones from peated malt. With a measure of English Whisky from St. George’s Distillery in Norfolk, it is rich in flavour.

Bottle 0.5L. Clear, deep golden body with an average, frothy, white head, mostly diminishing with fair lacing. Moderate malty (roasted) aroma with evident smokey character. Light-to-moderate sweet flavour with light-to-moderate bitterness in the finish. Light-to-medium body with watery-to-oily texture; soft carbonation.

Old rating, best before 20 June 12. Nice intense smoky nose. The beer starts with an extreme but great peated aroma, great intense smoked malts on a smooth but a bit sweetish body. Moderate bitterness, the smoke is great, the beer is moderate. Ok but very interesting stuff!

Bottle, present from Clayfiish which I’ve finally got around to opening. Thanks, mate! Poured into EurHop! glass. Nice white lacing. Carbonation is really lacking. Golden appearance. Huge Ardbeg whiskey and peated malt aroma as well as TCP. A tad hot too. Taste is citrus, lemons, Ardbeg, some iodine, TCP, some soft biscuity malt, some toffee crisp biscuits, some caramel. Not particularly amazing but interesting for sure!

No head, color amber gold like apple juice. A bit dissapointed for the lack of smokey flavour. Nose caramel barley not much hop. Taste a bit sour some hoppy biterness, a hint of whisky not much but good enough. Still the best whisky beer I had so far.

Bottle 0.5l from Konzum supermarket in Pula. Clear dark golden liquid with fluffy off white head. Medium body and carbonation. A hint of smoke in aroma. Taste is nice and balanced at the beginning, long aftertaste with a kick of smoke and sourness. Not bad.

Kauge (1527) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 13, 2015
Bottle at Frank in Tallinn (€ 4). Nearly no head despite the reckless pour. Rather horrible peaty and grainy on the nose - it’s like some cheap-ass makeshift of a whisky. Tastes disgusting. Skunky bitter, caramelly, peaty. Has this boozy effect without actually being boozy... I love smoked beers. I adore a good whisky. But this here is among the worst things I’ve had the chance of consuming in a long time. Ugh.

Fľaša. Zlatá farba, biela pena. Vôňa sladová, jemne oriešková a medová. V chuti sladová sladkosť. Jemne karamel a ovocné tóny. Najmä však zľahka nadymovaná chuť. Stredé telo, vyššia nasýtenosť.

Bottle. Aroma and taste of roasted malt and rye. Sweet rye mouthfeel. Short watery finish.

Bottle from Seoul Plaza. Simple malty honeyish aroma, light ambiguous British hops. Then peat comes out. Clear golden to orange colour. Taste is mostly interesting by the peat, which is moderate intensity. Simple, but the peat needs more complex malt bill to accompany it IMO. Still good.
