3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pale golden pour with a thin wispy white head. The nose is quite smoky with lots of peated malt character. There is also a touch of soft fruitiness as well. There is a touch of minerally bitterness on the back as well. The malt is pretty simple here - there is a touch of crackery character to it. Itís better than I expected it would be. Light bodied, but not thin.

Clear yellow golden color, small white head. Smell a lot of peat, wtf! Did not expect this at all! Taste is so incredibly peaty as well, some smoke and slightly bitter. Low to medium body, low to medium carbo.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Their regular flask-looking glass bottle, in a darker green, from the LCBO. Pours a golden-amber colour with a foamy head, average retention and soapy lace. Big peaty nose found in whiskeys, with caramel and burnt wood. Medium-thin mouthfeel, sometimes more wet than others. The taste is a nice blend of lots going on. Some fruitiness (oranges), some grain malt, some whiskey peat, smoke, and some bitterness from the hop. A pretty interesting beer for fans of whiskeys only.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
0.5l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. This one pours a light blurry honey-golden body with a small light bubbly and sidesticking white head. Smells definitely smoky, with peat and sweet ham. Wet gunpowder moshed between two rocks and added black leather. A strange description, but yeah. It has a really thin and light mouthfeel with a soft to average carbonation level. Peated smoky flavors. It really lack some mouthfeel this one. There is also a faint fruity hint hidden behind all that peated woody smoke, but more subtle. Subtle peaches actually. Ends more watery and quite blend. Peat all the way, but I wish it had a bit more body to follow up all that smoke. 24.09.2012

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
When I first saw this beer, I had mixed feelings. Iíve been led to believe, due to Innis & Gunn, that anything even remotely infused with whisky will be a totally disgusting disaster, meant for getting non-beer geeks into beer that isnít MolBatts. But thankfully this brewery has completely changed my perception of the concept. This beer is so smokey, peaty and malty itís just incredible. Thereís a solid malt body bringing a good amount of sweetness to the beer, but the dryness from the smoke and peat steals the show. The deep copper-golden colour is almost deceptive, as the next smokiest beer Iíve ever had was way darker. Feels medium on the palate with delicious lingering peat. A fantastic beer from a brewery that I really love.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
500 ml. bottle that looks like an over-sized, thick whiskey flask - interesting - split this one with Benzai since Belgbeergeek fell asleep - I also feel asleep several times - the ticking urge eventually overcame all natural body functions - clear pale amber with a white head - smell is thick medicinal peat and caramel malts - taste is sweet medicinal, peat heavy, seaweed, caramel malts, candied apple, rubber and bread - medium bodied - ouch - I like this one - pretty similar to Nšrke McPeat Tribbel - this is not balanced - its crazy - like moonshine crazy

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle - decants a lightly hazed honey-gold ale with a small bit sticky cap that lasts modeately and laces the glass. Aroma is smokey-musty with grainy undertones - like a Bamberg rauchbier but more restrained. Meduim body, slick mouth feel. Ups front this ale has a wonderful 3way balance between the peat smoke, malt and resiny hops - nothing overpowers anything else, mid palate these 3 flavour form a dulcet amalgam mid palate - it then goes on to a fast finish with hop resins and light astringecy from the smoke riding just over the malt- lingering smokey bittering. All in all a very good smoked beer which is not too over powering to have 2 or so. But where this beer really shines is when paired up with sronger tasting cheeses and foods like blue cheese or old cheddar or mutton stew - first rate as a food pairing brew.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clearish golden orange with small white head. Aroma is quite dry and smoky with lots of peat, a little fruit and bread. Flavour has a dry, smoky character too and is also full of peat with a little fruity sweetness and some breadiness. Finishes dry and smoky. Interesting, but one Iíd have in moderation.
