3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 nboldock (6) - Hull, East Yorkshire, - JAN 6, 2012An odd one. Quite unique in taste, "The Saints" is a St Peters ale with English (yes, English) whisky added to the brew. It is also brewed with peated malt and it is this, rather than the whisky, that gives the beer its unusual taste. Quite simply, it tastes like a campfire - burnt wood, heavily smoky. Nice, but something of an acquired taste I think - I would like to try another couple of bottles to allow my tastebuds to adjust. Well worth trying though - it is certainly interesting.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 jercraigs (6603) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 10, 2013
2013-04-18. Crisp golden body, nice white head. Really strong aroma of peaty iodine. Flavour is similarly powerful peat smoke. Interesting notes of malt and pleasant bitterness in the finish but each new sip brings another wave of intense peaty smoke. Average bodied palate. Intense, not at all to my tastes. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jfb (2633) - GERMANY - FEB 17, 2013
(bottle) pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of heavy ash and campfire smoke, slightly medicinal, with a hint of earth, vanilla and chilli peppers. flavour is mostly the same, with notes of smoked ham, chestnuts, black pepper and a bitter finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Grumbo (232) - Suffolk, ENGLAND - FEB 11, 2013
Bottle from Woodbridge Wine Company. Pours and mid orange yellow colour, minimal head, soon disappearing. Too strong for my liking on the smoke/peat and the whiskey aspect didn’t work for me.
