Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - Winter. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
A deep ruby red strong ale with an excellent balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. A classic example of a 'winter warmer'; high in alcohol and rich in taste.

500mL bottle: Very dark brown body with short tan head which quickly dissipates. Aroma of floral hops, pronounced barley malt and notes of dark chocolate. Very bitter entry followed by sweet malt and chocolate. Aftertaste remains bitter with chocolate presence. Smooth finish, well rounded. Not overly flat with some carbonation. Good stuff.

16.9 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with SoLan. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a thin-moderate off-white head that lasted until mid-glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of sweet malt, molasses, dates and alcohol. The flavor is sweet malt with a touch of molasses and some alcohol. Light bitterness at the finish along with some lingering sweetness.

Bottle 080420. Lot 7227, 2007. Quince apple, fruity, minerally, sweet roasted malt, chocolate fudge, some bunt sugar and licorice. Pours dark red to black. Dry almost thin palate. Burnt sourness raisins and dates. Alcoholic. Typical english flavors. Hardly any hop aromas. Licorice, chocolate fudge, some apples and rye bread. Complex, but lacking.
