3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
16oz Bottle. The pour was a clear light golden yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white creamy head that had great retention and superb sheets of lacing.
The aroma was of a light grain malt and a musty sweet Belgian yeast with notes of banana, green apple, citrus (lemon), bubblegum and coriander.
The taste was malty and lightly sweet with a touch of apple and a hint of banana early on, with a nice fruity ester creeping in along with a bold yeasty presence and just a bit of spice at the end. The flavor lasted only a short time proceeding the swallow with the fruity yeast taste lingering for a little while, before fading away entirely.
Mouthfeel was light in body with a watery yet mildly dry texture and a strong lively carbonation.
Overall a light flavorful Abbey Ale with a great drinkability, which could be dangerous considering the somewhat higher ABV...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: APR 6, 2014
500ml crown-capped stoneware bottle with build-in flip-top, as "St. Sebastiaan Grand Cru" bought at Belgian Beer International in Tsuen Wan.
Cloudy hazy golden yellow colour with small amount of dirt-like yeast sediments; One and a half finger head with crumpety white foams which lasts for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and very fizzy carbonation; Slightly fragrant aroma of malt, with moderate banana, vanilla, light caramel, light sugar, moderate Bel yeast, light herbs, lemon and faint grass; Mid to light sweet taste of malt, with light metallic, very light tartness, light orange, faint banana, light caramel, light raisins, quite strong phenolic, molasses, light bread, light Bel yeast, spices, light cloves, lemon, light grass, and moderate bitter hops; Medium body. Very slick and slightly creamy palate; Mouth feel is passing-grade Belgian Blond, light malt, thick body, low estery taste and not much sweetness, strong phenolic elements but low on cloves and spices, overall with a very clean and neat palate but you wish for more to shine. Oh dear… The 7.5% booze doesn’t taste that strong but it wants to scream out at every opportunity. Sigh... Hoppiness is lemon, light herb and faint grass in nose. Lemony, slightly clovey and light grass in taste. Bitterness is stand-out, more on astringent side for a lasting, mid-to-low bitter finish; Slight dry after taste. Clean, easy and fairly bitter to mouth.
Comments: The stoneware bottle with build-in flip-top is impressive, but the brew itself is not: it’s clinically-made, no fault and effective to be passable. All the nice Belgian taste elements are there but not enough to be shine. So I’ve paid double the price for the stone bottle and that’s the saving grace. Lesson learnt.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml stoneware bottle, as Sterkens St. Sebastiaan Grand Cru Bière Forte, capped and with swingtop. ABV is 7.5%. Bought at Alcampo, Gran Canaria. In the German translation on the label the beer is classified as a "doppelbock", which it clearly is not, despite being brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot. Pale golden colour, large and lasting white head. Nice and "typical Belgian" spicy aroma, also some fruity notes. Fairly light bodied for its strength , nice and mild spicy flavour, again "typically Belgian", not too sweet.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml ceramic bottle into a Trappist glass; served cold.
Aroma: Light raisins, fresh yeast, bready, boozy.
Appearance: Moderately hazy, gold body. Creamy, white, head that slowly dissipates to a thin cap.
Taste: A little malty, dried fruits like apricot and raisin. Some light caramel too. Alcohol is present but not overpowering.
Palate: Very high amount of prickly carbonation. Medium body, medium+ finish that ends on light bitterness.
Overall: A really nice golden. Has lots of flavors that remind me of some triples, but isn’t overly sweet or boozy. Great stuff!

Pauvre en arômes, elle se rattrape au palais : bon équilibre entre houblon, fleurs et citron. À noter, beau flacon de 50cl en grès.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours cloudy golden with thick white head. Aroma is mild and leans towards candy sweet. Mouthfeel has pleasant carbonation. Flavor is medium bodied. Some candy beat sugar flavors, but not overpowering. Mild hop finish cleanses the sweetness away leaving you ready for the next sip.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
When it’s poured on the glass a cloudy golden beer it’s seen. It also has an augmented amount of carbonic gas and create a huge foam head, but it dissipate very quickly, leaving just a small condensation. The aroma is very floral, and the malt isn’t fell. The taste reveals a strong flavor with a full body, and a bitter end, demonstrating the increased presence of hops from the begin to the end. Quite good, but not the best of the Belgium strong ales.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
In a ceramic, swing-top bottle labeled as "Yeast Hoist" -- deep, rich golden with a frothy head and heavily sedimented, this screams goodness, visually. The aroma is similarly seductive ... And ultimately this drinks like all the really good, classic Belgian golden ales. Sharp and tangy, with a hint of wild fermentation, but ultimately evenly sweet and beery ... love it.
