See www.st-stefanus.be

Bottle I got popped like New Year’s champagne, but didn’t fizz too much. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a fairly thick and frothy pale buff head. Flavor has fruity notes of pear and banana, plus hints of malt and butterscotch and a snip of hops. Texture is smooth and fairly fizzy, average but acceptable. A truly refreshing beer to take the edge off the heat of the day.

Fromm the corked, caged 750 ml. bottle that reads Cellar Release 7-2012. Cloudy medium amber pour with a big but soft cream colored head. The aroma are full of toasted and roasted malts, biscuit, spice, pepper, yeast, and other typical Belgian notes. Hops downplayed. Full bodied. The taste begins with the roasted malt character but swiftly evolves to a peppery more spicy finale. Ends great. Highly enjoyable.

Cellar release 8-2012. Pours to a nice brassy amber body with a creamy starch white head and lots of moderately rapid carbonation. A bit of spotty lacing atop the glowing body. An aroma of yeast and caramel with bananas foster. Creamy too. The flavor is creamy caramelized bananas foster with light clove and clean yeasts. Balanced throughout. The palate is creamy and medium bodied, but finishes very clean. A nice beer all around. Very easy drinking.

750 bottle. Pours an orange amber in color. Tropical fruit and citrus aroma. More tropical fruit flavor and a dry clean citrus note followed by a hint of spice on the palate. Overall, a nice warm weather brew.

Bottle 330ml (Saveur)
Clear golden color, decent white head. Aroma has light fruity yeastyness and alcohol. Light to medium-bodied. Semi-sweet fruityness, light citrus and alcohol. Clean mouthfeel and refreshing beer. Same time quite simple.

Cellar Release 11-2013. BB 30/08/15. Poured a hazy amber colour with a one-finger white frothy head that retained OK but diminished quickly to a collar. Lacing good. Carbonation medium to high with small to medium bubbles giving a tingle to the tongue. Aroma of sweet sugars, malts, possibly a hint of fruit and maybe bread/dough. Taste of sweetish malt, dry yeast and faint spice; alcohol well hidden. Light body (a bit thin). Smooth, light, yeasty and faintly spicy. OK.

Shared 750ml to chalices. Cloudy wheat color with a huge impossible to pour head. Aroma of sweet belgian candy sugar and yeast. Taste is classic belgian blonde. Head refuses to leave. Lacing for days. Lovely.

Bottle, 330ml. A cloudy golden colour with a large white head. Aroma of floral hops, banana and a little spice. Flavour has spicy hops, wheat and citrus. High carbonation. Some sweet honey and yeast notes in the finish. Too sweet and way over-carbonated for my liking.

larsga (6500) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 30, 2014
Huge offwhite lasting head. Clear deep yellow body with a powerful centre fountain of carbonation. Funky dried fruit aroma with apple notes. Dry dried fruit and metal taste with honey notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish fizzy mouthfeel. Dry resiny dried fruit aftertaste with metallic toffee and spice notes. Nice, drinkable, interesting. Maybe a bit too dry and too carbonated. Fills out a bit and goes hazy when dregs are added, which much improves it. Honey becomes much more prominent then. (0.33l bottle, Beer House, Paddington Station, London.)
