This kind of is the Augustijn Grand Cru, but in a different bottle for the American market. Dense foam, amber colour, nice and smooth drink. But nothing spectacular.

Cellar release date of 10/2012, 2 years old. Pours very slightly hazy golden color, with a 1-finger off-white head. Moderate bubbling along the wall of the glass. Crisp, fruity aroma, with a light yeasty note. Body is medium-to-full, and just a touch syrupy. Crisp, with a dry finish. Earthy yeast flavor lies beneath a crisp, fruity flavor that was reminiscent of apple.

Pours a five-finger cream head that lasts forever leaving a very good lace. Crystal clear pale amber color. Very good carbonation and medium bodied. Sweet grass & lemon nose and flavor is tart fruit, spicy, slightly tart finish. Bottled 10-2012, $11.99 for a caged & corked 750ml bottle from Bert’s Better Beers Hooksett, NH

Augustijn Grand Cru derivative, made for the augustine monks in Ghent since 2012, when I tasted this from a 75 cl bottle at the Horeca Expo of Ghent. Thick, cream white head, misty golden blonde colour. Fruity aroma, spiciness, banana, yeast, orange peel, white candi sugar, hint of champagne. Rounded fruity palate with light spicy hints, sweetish, grainy and pale malts, a bit toasted, yeasty, not without complexity, with an mild herbal hop bitterishness in the finish along with warming alcohol. Enjoyable, like the regular version, or at least better than what I normally expect from Van Steenberge.

Countbeer (4908) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 2, 2014
Bottle: Served in a taster: Medium sized white foamy head on top of a cloudy yellow orange colored beer. Aromas of fruits, yeast, carbo sulphur, hops, herbs, some malts. Flavours of peach, cardboard, iron, yeast, some malts, bitters, hops, herbs and some grapes. Aftertaste is a warm mix of fruits, malts, bitters and herbs. Low carbo, creamy close to silky mouthfeel, medium to lightly fuller bodied and a creamy warm texture. Quite crispy. Nice.

Beerenberger (1545) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAR 25, 2014
Gental nose of Belgian yeast, corriander, citrus and suggestions of sugary sweetness. There was also an initial hint of funk, which rapidly dissipated. A hazy, glowing amber pour with a short lived off-white head and moderate lacing. The palate is wrapped in flowers, mild sweetness, Belgian yeast, and spice. Crisp dry finish. Medium body and crisp carbonation. In conclusion, a respectable Grand Cru.

Slightly hazy golden color. Nose of minty hops, booze, golden malt, and light fruity citrus/banana. Flavor is mild syrupy malt, booze, citrus, banana, and more of the minty/herbal hops.
