COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 3MONTS beer : A wonderful return to nature, with its flavour of yesteryear, this is a beer that was drawn from the wooden metal-circled barrels to fill so many mugs in our Flanders bars! Its bitterness comes from our hop fields scattered throughout the region. Brewed by infusions, it is an old-fashioned rising beer made with strong and hearty Flemish hops. Fermented using top yeasts, like the barrel brewers of yore and clamped like bonderised barrels.

GoufCustom (744) - HONG KONG - JAN 30, 2014

750 ml pinned cork bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Looks: Clear light golden yellow colour with no yeast sediments; Explosive three and a half finger head and crumpet white foam which lasts for 3 minutes. Excellent sticky lacing and very fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and sweet light lager malt, with light musty cellar, honey, grains, raisins, sugar, yeast, earth, light lemon and pretty grassy hops.

Taste: Medium sweet malt, with cellar, strong grains, pretty strong alcohol, sugar, bread, strong Bel yeast, spices, earth, liquorices, bitter lime, and very grassy hops.

Body: Medium with pretty thick and slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Good cellar-ish and lively, with high carbo, partly lager-ish, sweet and bubbly. The booze is outstanding and very Belgian, lots of feel good factors here. Has that rustic, farmhouse feel, the graininess, breadiness and earthiness is quite charming. All the elements are nicely put together. Nice!

Hoppiness: Grassy in nose, bitter lime and good earthy, spicy grass in taste. Moderate liquorices add to a just-right low bitterness for a nice boozy, bitter sweet finish.

After Taste: Pretty dry. Very easy and bitter sweet to mouth.

Comments: This one is pretty simple-minded, with bare bone ingredients to create a very rustic, cellar-ish cool drink not just for Summer but equally enjoyable anytime. Lively with good looks, nicely malted and sweetened, lots of Bel yeast and earthy grassy hops, this is a job well done and I am glad to start the Lunar New Year with a bang!

Clear golden with a nice head. Floral and cereal aroma. Good carbonation. Taste is light sour and acid, well balanced with the bitterness. Long and fresh finish.

Large format bottle split with parents for boxing day dinner. Decently bitter with some of the hops, but not a huge flavour profile.

Bottle courtesy of Brian. Clear yellow, almost lambic in nature when poured. Huge pillowy white head that stays for awhile. Aroma is yeasty bread with a floral hop note, taste is the same with a very nice finish.

@Weilands Market/Columbus. Clear golden amber with a generous white head, thin strands of lace. Aroma is pungent wheat and earth. Taste is toward lambic/geuze - wheat-malt combine to open things, adding sour grass and carbonation near the end of the palate. the malt lingers some in the finish, even though it is mostly about the sour mown grass. Different, palate cleansing, good with food (surprise! even with pizza!). Worth a try.

Bottle (1 P 9.4FL OZ): clear, golden, moderate head that lasts. Lifted malt, fruit. Pale malts and almost a hint of wheat. Very fresh. Subtle hops. Layers of aroma. Dry, mid palate sweet. Moderate to low bitterness. Almost sour or acid. Very Bright, rich, long palate. Pale malt and lo who’s flavor. Wonderful freshness and depth of flavor. Stone fruit. Wine like. F:::ing good beer. Classic like the label says. Big but elegant. Beer does not need to be bombed with hops or dark malt to be good.

Draught at Abbots Ale House. Pours a clear pale golden yellow, nice white head, good lacing. Grassy nose. Grassy bitterness in the flavour. Lively carbonation, grassy aftertaste. Poor beer, I thought, lacked body, flavour and complexity. One dimensional and dull.
