Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Oren. As "3 Monts Grande Réserve". 8.3%. Slightly hazy deep golden to amber color with a big white head. Aroma of fruity esters, some malt, honey hints, a bit of alcohol and some spicy hops notes. Sweetish flavor with a bit of caramel, fruits, a bit of alcohol and a drier finish. Medium-bodied.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 17, 2013 Bottle bought at Systembolaget 17/5-13. This is the 2013 version. The beer pours clear golden with a bubbly frothy head that settles to nice foam layer over the beer! Compared to previous years, the beer is clearer and resembles more a golden lager - has there been filtering? The aroma is sweet and yeasty that entice the palates and boosts the thirst. Perhaps slightly more discrete than previous years? In the taste, this is still such a malty sweet beer, but this year I sense more bitterness. The hops are more dominant now and it gives the beer a much more peppery taste. The mouthfeel is medium-full and the carbonation elevated. This is a great example of Biére de Garde but compared to the 2012 and the 2010, it is a tad too hoppy and peppery to reach the same high scores. I also wonder if the change is not caused by filtering? The quote "Sur lie" on the label maybe should be removed? Pourquoi non faites la biere plus robuste?
But, rest assured, this beer is a heck lot better than the disasterous 2011. Bon!

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Big thanks to SFLpunk for sending this bottle my way. Served in a Captain Lawrence tulip. At the time of consumption, the #3 Biere de Garde. Reviewed from my tasting sheet.
Pours a clear golden color with an average, fizzy white head and some spotty lacing. Thin cap throughout. The nose is light and smells mostly like pilsener malt. Light cardboard and bread. Very grainy. The flavor is quite grainy as well. Light body and no contribution from yeast or hops. Fizzy carbonation and a dry finish. Not my cup of tea.

Clear amber of color with an off white head. An aroma of caramel, hops, metallic and toffee. A flavor of sweets, caramel, weak hops, weak bitterness, to much alcohol domination.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks to Alex... Dark clear gold with an off white head... Smells like a biere de garÐe, honey, apicots, champagne, some yeast, a touch to sweet but good... The taste is very malty on the front but the finish is a touch alcoholic, so so

Bottle. Tastes like a slightly darker and less drinkable Leffe Blond. Sweet, yeasty, fruity, spicy. Nothing exciting here.
