3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle from kihoskh. 2011 red stamp. Corked and cork held in place by a large metal clip. Very unusual, looks very rudimentary.
When openng the bottle some beer gushed out, leaving approx 60cl of the 75cl originally in the bottle. The gushing died out quickly.
Clear golden, smooth small offwhite head.
Flowery and fruity aroma, citrussy hint - aroma reminds me of a belgian blonde.
Flavor is yellow fruity, yeasty, faint citrussy or sour tinge, otherwhise dry, but sweet yellow fruity. reminds me of a messy belgian blonde, but in fact an okay belgian style beer. Better than the many boring biere de garde i’ve had from france. Alc. well used, flavor well adjusted to the strength.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle received via trade with Glouglouburp. Pours clear and sparkling orange with an average, frothy, white head, lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (hay, straw, meal), average hops (herbs, grass), average yeast (horse blanket, earth) with notes of light alcohol and cask. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. Rather bland beer; very effervescent.

I had this beer many years ago at one time when I was only giving ratings to the beers but was too lazy and stupid to write down my thoughts. I will update this as soon as I get my hands on this beer again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 26, 2015 A real farmhouse. Horseblanket aroma with beige head. Tasty and drinkable biere de garde. Grassy, grainy, sweet start and bitter but balanced finish. Understated carbonation. Not the best but still a good example of the style, and a superior French effort.
Had it 8 plus years later and yeast was fine but boozy.Better though so upgrade.

Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Oren. As "3 Monts Grande Réserve". 8.3%. Slightly hazy deep golden to amber color with a big white head. Aroma of fruity esters, some malt, honey hints, a bit of alcohol and some spicy hops notes. Sweetish flavor with a bit of caramel, fruits, a bit of alcohol and a drier finish. Medium-bodied.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
750ml bottle, vintage 2013, 8 % abv, from Systembolaget, Luleå, via Gaute. Champagne cork that gave a good shot followed by smoke when opened. Close to clear golden body. Dense, white head blanketing the glass. Sweet fruit and malts on the nose added by vapour of alcohol. Sweet wheat, honey, and sweet, fruity caramel to the taste buds. Soft and sweet fruity ending. Notable alcohol. Rather easy to drink. Far from great, gives a bland impression (session in Tromsø, 30.07.2013).

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml bottle, shared by Jay. Labeled "Amber Ale Sur Lie", 8.3% ABV. Code on back is "17 20". Mostly clear orange amber color. Many fine particles in the body make it appear slightly hazy. Thin white head. Only a couple loose bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Softer carbonation. More dry finish. Kind of a nice belgian type yeast profile, more so than in the Gavroche biere de garde I just sampled before this. Light spice, some bready malt. Lightly spicy taste, light bitter. Alcohol is a tiny bit noticeable in the finish, a little heat here... I didn’t notice any at all in the Gavroche. Another solid biere de garde, though.
