COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Urbain is a true local beer, made from the finest ingredients and respecting our time-honoured traditions. Brewed without compromise in small batches, this smooth, refreshing lager serves up a generous creamy head and taste and aromas that are rich and distinctive.

Originally rated July 2007. This beer is getting bashed for trying to look like a microbrew, but being brewed by Labatt’s. Testing both of them tonight. The label does look nice though. Pours a golden colour with active carbonation. The head is pretty impressive for a macro lager. White, foamy and creamy, with lots of retention, leaving decent lacing all around. Smell of fresh malt at first pour, but then turns into some kind of adjunct aroma. Watery mouthfeel with a certain graininess to it. The taste is somewhat metallic at first, with a little malt and a smoke undertone in the finish. Kind of weird, but not really horrible. Swill material for sure.

Bouteille 341 ml. 4.9%. Couleur jaune paille, mousse blanche.

run of the mill macro lager. nothing special, pretty boring, a good lawnmower beer.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2008 bottle. Poured plare golden yellow with minimal white head. Aromas of hops and corn. Sweet initial corn tastes fade to neutral finish. Very average.

341ml bottle bought in Quebec. Straw with a trace of white head; corn syrup aroma; sweet with a touch of citrus and some leafy hop bitterness; but rather poor overall.

Bouteille 341ml.

341 ml bottle- Nose of wet paper and grains, with cooked carrots and sugar. Sweet grainy flavour, creamed corn, butter and asparagus. WTF is going on with this? Pours a sparkling gold with a frothy white cap. This one finishes spritzy with lots of chemical induced bitterness. Pretty not good.

Smells of corn, a trace of hops, golden, pours a firm finger of white foam, a bit of lace. Tastes of corn, hops and adjuncts, with a trace of bandaid. Light bodied, bitter. Poor, but has a quaint old fashioned label, coincidently watching St. Urbain’s Horseman on CBC?

Clear golden, decent white foamy head. Grainy aroma with a little corn. Bland palate but with a smooth creamy mouthfeel that saves this from getting a "dregs level" rating at least.
