Stadin Panimon pitkään kypsytetyssä, täyteläisen maltaisessa, vaaleassa ohraviinioluessa on amerikkalaisten käpyhumalten runsas aromi sekä katkera maku. Käsintehty, hopback‐aromihumaloitu ja pullokäyvä täysmallaspintahiivaolut.

Flaske 300ml. Gave fra Rune. Mørk brun. Veldig uklar. OK luftig skum som holder seg en god stund. Hint av karamell & nøtter i aromaen. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken blir temmelig søt. Mye bær, men blir raskt veldig tørr & bitter. Alkoholen merkes med en varmende effekt. Ikke helt harmonisk. Litt skyer i glasset etter siste kvelling.

Bottle. Aroma has grain and yeast. Taste has caramel, malt, pine and fruit. Aftertaste is very bitter. Full body. Alcohol level is in check, but just barely. Plenty of character.

(Stadin American Barley Wine) Bottle 330 ml from Hemrod, thanks! Poured into a small snifter, ABV 8% Deep orange colour on the body with red hues when hold against the light. Two fingers of tan head. Thick, with good retention, medium lacing left on the glass. Aroma has light malts, very fruity, lots of citrusy hops too, mandarins. Taste is fruity again, lots of hops, orange peel, mandarins, light cookie dough, dates, intense bitterness on the finish and a bit more mellow on the aftertaste. Medium body, good carbonation, good dry palate. Not your usual barley wine but not bad too, on the contrary quite interesting, highly drinkable.

Brown body, small white head. Faint aroma with caramel and some malts. Bitter taste at first, some hops at the end but overall it’s a bit hollow. Smooth mouthfeel and little carbonation. Not very impressive.

330ml bottle from Alko Sokos in Joensuu. Foamy, off-white head. Satisfying lacing. Next to clear golden coloured body. Malt-fruity aromas, caramel and dried fruits. Mixed taste profile of caramel, liquorice and dried fruits, a little jam-like. Lingering bittersweet end. Full bodied. Pleasing (hotel room 16.08.2014).

Bottle [thanks to Hemrod / Euro Swap 5] @ home. Slightly hazy reddish color, average sized quite quickly diminishing, fair to good lacing off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, light to moderately sweet, lightly hoppy. Taste malts, lightly hops, some sweetness, nicely bitter in the finish. Medium to full body, soft yet suitable carbonation. Nice!

Amber coloured barley wine with smallish head and little lacing on the glass. Aroma has malty notes, slight licorice saltiness and sweetness, hops are staying behind. Taste is salty with licorice, malty sweet, caramel and nice after bitterness. Full body and medium carbonation. Malty barley wine, and I prefer more hoppy one.

Really enjoyed this barley wine. Not such a blietzkrieg on the mouth and liver as some of its namesaker, this felt more like a beer meeting a Nordic kitchen during Christmas, with preserves, dates, prunes and caramel adding to the almost festive overall character of this fine Finnish Barley Wine.
