UPDATED: AUG 6, 2012 Tap (Black Door, Helsinki) (6:4:7:4:13=3.4)
big stodgy muesli aroma, even with the fruits. Taste well balanced, sweetish malts, decent roast. Hops nicely bitter. Finish bitter too, wet sheep wooliness. Good one, now they’re not bound by the 4.7% limit.
Rerate: 330ml bottle Tap (SOPP2012, Turku) - as Stadin American X Pale Ale (4+:4-:6+:4+:13+=3.3+++)
Sweet slightly dirty fruity aroma, some cakey malts. Very grainy retronasals, grainy body too. Hops quite wooly, dry, and husky. Maybe a little raw, could do with more conditioning. Packed full of beer ingredients, that’s for sure, but not entirely synergistically. However, they aren’t fighting either. Improves as it fills out as it warms, but doesn’t become more succulent. If anything, it becomes more raw. Hoppy bite is a big win, sometimes a bit soapy, but it lasts so long and is so clearly full flower noble hops. The best finish of the day so far, for sure.
