Bottled (thanks Bob Malmström!). More or less deep golden colour with a small head. Aroma is mild fruits, raisins, some slight herbs and mild yeastyness. Flavour is bready, mildly caramelly with some grassy and herbal hops. Pleasant bitterness. More like a well-hopped bitter than an APA.

33 cl bottle @ home. Batch #403, BBE 15.03.2012
Aroma is somewhat leathery and stale with ripe fruits, hints of vegetables and cardboard. Flavour is hoppy with fruits and bready malt. Some vanilla and leathery cardboard in the finish. Feels english. Decent.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FatPhil (7494) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JAN 7, 2012
330ml bottle (Maatilatori, Helsinki)
6 Served cold, so not expressing itself fully. However, it’s got a very clear earthy bitter aroma. A touch stodgy, and with some of the plasticky elements I associate with a good German heller bock.
3+ Dull gold, just a whisper of yeast came over, so nicely clear, and with a big spongy head on pouring that settled to a fine layer.
6 Retronasals surprisingly fruity, given the earthiness of the aroma. Taste is quite simple, weak even. Hops come over more like Bramling Cross with the earthiness and subtle (and non-citrussy) fruitiness.
3+ Crisp body, but perhaps a bit watery. Finish quite simple, mostly a barky bitter hoppiness, almost liquoricey with its dryness. Pleasant gentle tingle too.
12 I let this condition for a month or so, as I know Stadin are sold way too young. It certainly was nicely conditioned. The aroma hops weren’t playing any part in this at all, it was all bittering hops, so I question whether the extra 4 weeks in the dark fridge actually did anything significant to the mythical aroma hops. (I.e. I don’t think I’d get a better drink if I drank it fresher.) Certainly a well crafted beer, but it’s not exciting me.

Quite uninspiring Pale Ale.
