COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stag Beer has been brewing “Golden Quality Since 1851.” At the 2001 Great American Beer Festival, that quality was recognized with the Gold Medal as the Best American-Style Lager. Just more proof of what Midwesterners have been saying for years, “Stag Beer makes thirst a pleasure.”

Quickly disappearing head, salty flavor pretty highly carbonated, yeasty flavor, dry aftertatste, a similar flavor to a coors lighth, but a little stronger in flavor and characterand not quite as sour, nothing offensive and definitely not a sweet beer, but not hoppy or sour.

12oz can (Old Notes)-Pours a clear golden with a white head. Aroma of corn, grains, and bread. Taste of corn, citrus, malt, and sweetness. This light bodied brew has a sort of creamy aspect to it. Not bad.

Straight from the can clean and light. It’s like drinking a PBR without looking like a total Hipster at the bar. Very drinkable Pale Lager.

While this beer is cheap it is probably the most enjoyable cheap beer, the aroma nothing great and appearance is lacking but you can’t deny that this beer offers a supremely creamy texture and a nice bitter finish like most cheap beers should but do not. Steak, Taters And Gravy.

12 oz can at Waldo Pizza. Pours clear, light straw in color. Aroma of dough, grain. Flavor is sweet bread, citrus, grain. I can’t believe I am saying this, but it really isn’t that bad.

Bottle to pint (HUGE thanks to jmborggren for this whale!). Looks solid; a transparent gold with white lacing. Smells and tastes doughy and skunky with a below average mouthfeel. Not anything I’d recommend to a friend.

EtTuCthulhu (897) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - MAY 4, 2013
UPDATED: JUL 12, 2013 The appearance of this beer is a clear yellow color with no head, and the aroma is reminiscent of sweet yeast, dough malts, and slightly roasted malts. The taste is quite sour, slightly sweet, and a touch salty, and the mouthfeel combines a medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, and a long finish.

12 ounce can. Pours light gold with a decent white head. Mild aroma of malt and grain. Taste is similar. Not good, but not bad. Good inexpensive lager.

A very easy drinking and underappreciated beer. Some people get so caught up in the bs of talking about beer (much like wine snobs) that they fail to taste and enjoy a beer that is simply a good tasting beer at a good price. It’s a shame it’s only available in MO, IL, and AR.
