COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
De mest kända brown ales på 1700-talet tillverkades i den lilla staden Burton-Upon- Trent i Staffordshire. De här ölens höga kvalitet uppskattades även vid hovet i St. Petersburg där tsar Peter den Store avnjöt dem. Burton Ale under vilket namn brown ale blev känt transporterades längs vattenleder till hamnen i staden Hull och därifrån vidare med större fartyg till Östersjön. Samma fartyg transporterade också andra värdefulla varor såsom champagne. Havets stora stormar kunde ibland sänka fartyg, besättning och värdefull last. Det finns flera historier på Åland om förlista fartyg och ett sådant hittades nyligen med en värdefull skatt i flytande form. Stallhagen Brown Ale är ett mjukt öl med aromer av malt och nötter. Paletten är fyllig. Ölet har en rostad, söt och fruktig ton och är svagt humlad och lättdrucken. Skummet är tjockt och håller länge. Bryggmästare Mats Ekholm har kronat den här läckra toppjästa ölet med en nypa havre som gör det till ett riktigt hantverksöl. Malter: Pilsner, Crystal, Black, Oat Hops: Goldings, Fuggles Alkohol % 5,5 Rekommenderad serveringstemperatur: 10-12 grader C Mat rekommendationer: ost, gris och grillat kött, efterrätter med chokolad och bär

On tap at Willi Väino, Helsinki, Finland.
Pours amber red with long-last, off-white head. Smells malty sourish and yeasty-sweet. Starts with lots of caramelly malts and slight chocolate. In the background slightly roasty. Middle part is malty-sweet with some lactose and some sweet chocolate. In the background, alight Aroma hops are noticeable. Finish is sugary sweet, malty-caramelly, with some chocolate in background.

Drunk at Stallhagen pub. Lightly bitter, roasted smell. Red bronze colour, yellow head. Sugary and malty. Very sweet, some roastiness.

Smells not so much, but tastes good and much. The aftertaste remains for a while. The flavor balance right on the border between watery beer and a really good beer. But I thought it was good.

Pours dark reddish brown with a foamy white head. Aroma of slightly roasted malts, caramel, peanuts and chocolate. Taste is quite malty with caramel, chocolate and bready notes. Finish is slightly bitter and malty. Okay, quite basic but well balanced English style Brown ale.

Draught (Stockholm Beer Festival 2013) - Dark brown in colour. Roasted malt, toffee and nuts in the aroma. Nutty and slightly metallic taste with roasted malt and dried fruit detected.

Pours a ruby brown colour with a small white head. Aroma of toasted malts, nuts and some syrup notes. Flavour of toasted malts, nuts, sweet fruits and dry hay. Low bitterness. Medium bodied, dry mouthfeel and a dry malty finish. Nice dry brown ale.

(Draught at Kitty’s, 20120228) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was dense, long lasting, medium sized and almost white. Aroma had malts and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, sweetness, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste had malts, molasses, low bitterness and mild roastedness. A tasty but dull beer.

From tap @ Olutravintola Kukko. A bit reddish brown colour and thick off-white head. Slightly sweet malty aroma and taste, medium bodied, fizzy mouthfeel.
