3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour, some tan lacing. Moderate malty aroma with some brown sugar. Malty taste with slight roastiness, low bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, decent carbonation. Not great by itself but feels like it would go great with christmas food.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
330cl bottle from Alko, as Stallhagen Julbock. Pours dark brown with big, but quickly fading, head. Aroma and taste are mostly sweet malts. Aroma has a distinct hint of raisin, while the taste includes sweet licorice, rye pudding and also a little tar. Palate is excellent: smooth and creamy texture with long smooth finish. Some excellent qualities, but the sweetness makes it a bit unbalanced.

22.12.2013. Stallhagen Julbock. Tuoksussa paahteisuutta, kahvia, mausteita ja makeutta. Maku makean maltainen, hieman paahteisuutta ja humalan puraisua, pientä savua. Täyteläinen. Jotain porterin ja bockin sekoitusta. Tasapainoinen, helpohko.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a seemingly clear almost black body with a quickly dissipating light brown head. Nose has aromas of roasted barley, chokolate, caramel, liquorice and tar. Taste is roasty and dry, finishing in a lingering bitterness. Carbonation is on the lively side and mouthfeel is quite rich. A very nice bock but could be more on the sweet malty side.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2015 Bottle from Alko, Helsinki (as Stallhagen Julbock). Pours dark brown with an initially huge but quickly fading head. The aroma features dark, bready maltiness with medium roastiness and a hint of bisquit. Taste is light sweet and light roasty, surprisingly also a bit smoky; malt character is solid. Bready, nutty flavours are abundantly present, hoppy notes do not appear. The palate is medium bodied, a bit creamy in texture and moderate in carbonation, perhaps a touch too lively for this style. Overall a nice if a bit unspectacular dark bock; a good companion for meaty dishes, for example.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.5 bottle as Julbock. Very dark brown, almost black with a big, brown, dense head. A sweat aroma of dark malts, some bread and licorice. Taste is coffee-like, has some bitter notes as well as sweet ones from malts and an unusual, salty touch. Medium body, creamy texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is a softer version of the taste, much more balanced and a bit less salty. Overall the beer has potential for being great but it requires some balance in my opinion, also the saltiness impairs the general experience.
