3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On gravity at the Tewkesbury Beer festival, 4/02/2011. Dark brown with a slightly oily slick of a tan head. After reading imdownthepub’s review of this rare beer, I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it proved to be a crushing disappointment. Sweet, bready malts and a vague hint of spice, with nothing by way of character.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask Conditioned at The Crown & Trumpet, Broadway, Worcs. Dark Ruby colour with big smooth head. A great beer in a great pub, no doubt about it. This is a warming winter beer, thickish on the palate with a spicy cinamon background and a dry roasted husky coffee note. Malt character all the way with a stable full hop note intertwined. A very interesting beer and very rare.
