Amber beer with golden hue, white full head. This is a superb, drinking, quaffing beer, as good as a session bitter gets probably. dominated by a fresh, tangy hop flavour and a hard crystal like malt, helped by a hard water flavour. This is a hoppy delight and I love it.

Cask at The Bakers Arms, Broad Campden, Glos’, 06.08.10 Pours dark gold, light amber with a white head. Nice refreshing session bitter, in fact this was much more assertive in the bitterness stakes than I can ever recall and I’ve had this a few times now but never rated it. Malty and then drying in the finish, a very reasonable beer but defiantely playing to the far superior Hobsons Twisted Spire which was in very good form and in an altogether different league. Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 2/08/10. A rare appearance for this brewer in this city. Copper coloured with a slight, off-white head. Light, malty aroma of caramel with a hint of fruit, followed by some leafy hops. Flavour had some cereal malts, a touch of fruity sweetness and flinty edge, before a long, bitter finish. Very good.

Cask conditioned handpump Lamp Birmingham. This was either not right or totally not to my taste; I reckon the former. It’s copper with a white head. Veggy notes and big ugly malts throughout. Didn’t get any bitterness just a bad dryness. Not cool unlike the pub.

Cask@The Criterion, Leicester. Flat looking amber beer with a very strong and slightly vinous aroma. The flavour is very dry and very well hopped. Overall a watery and very dry beer with not a lot about it.

Hand pulled at the Lamp Tavern, Birmingham. Very dry, slightly aggressive, old-school Bitter. I like Glen’s notes below re: hard, crystal malt and hard water flavour, except that I didn’t find them so enjoyable. A little harsh and overly dry, with some cracker.
