ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Mar 15, 2005 Golden colour with a small head. Malty grainy aroma. Thin malty taste. Seems to become a bit more hoppy towards the end. jfm (1694), Holbæk, Denmark Mar 13, 2005 Golden color with no head. The taste is very thin and watery with a light malty sweetness. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Feb 1, 2005 Deep blond color. Light aroma of paper and vanilla. Average common Lager, some sweetness in the front, more bitter at the end. shrubber85 (2833), Wallhalben, Germany Nov 17, 2004 Bottle. Slightly sour malt aroma - not bad. Medium yellow color with moderate head. Mild malt flavor - moderate carbonation. Fairly bland - interesting to know about the sorghum law although I can’t really detect it. Not unpleasant - a good enough beer. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 22, 2004 Bottled. Clear golden, small head. Undefined adjunct aroma. Dry and very thin with sharp, empty mouthfeel. A slight hint of grass in the finish. Significantly thinner than Gulder, the othe rlager brand from this brewery. SilkTork (4155), Rochester, Kent, England Mar 21, 2003 Green bottle with a simple blue label. There are stars embossed on the shoulder of the bottle, and a white star on the label. Star Lager has been brewed in Nigeria since 1949. All Nigerian beers, by law, have to contain sorghum, which should mark this out as somehow different to the normal global lager, but it's sadly quite normal. A pale urine colour, slightly grassy aroma, a smooth slightly clinging medium malt body and a dryish softly bitter finish. Nothing special. Nigerian Breweries PLC has brewed Heineken lager for the Nigerian market since 1998; and then in 2000 it became part of the Heineken group when that group acquired over 50% of the stock.
