Rating #703, bottle from a Tesco in Brno, Czech Republic

A brown beer with nice head, and it even has lacings. Aroma is roasted malts but a bit of metal as well. Metal in the aroma is never a good sign, and as expected the taste was ridiculously metallic too, aside from the roasted malts. A person who sat next to me and didn’t have a clue about beer or beer tasting at all, meant that this beer tastes "like old coins", and I have to agree on that one. A bit chokolate as well, though. Beer is thinner than expected. Well, this wasn’t the best expierience, but I guess it’s a quite mediocre beer (or bit below) anyway. I have tasted worse.

Bottled. Mine was called Starobrno Rezak on the label. Cookie malt aroma. Malty, sweet, slightly caramelly taste. Mildly bitter finish. Nice polotmave.

Almost black beer. Slightly sweet and toffeeish with a full body and coffee pronounced. Soft coffee and bitter finish. Very drinkable dark beer. (Draught at Cerveny Drak, Sumperk)

A refreshengly good beer with dark amber colour and medium body. Brown sugar, caramel and toffee notes in the aroma. Sweet malty flavour with short duration. The best from the Starobrno brewery.

Very light bodied with pleasant toasted malty flavors, but too thin for my taste.

A good Czech dunkel. Dark amber colour, good head. Chocolate and raisins in the aroma. The flavour is quite sweet (Chocolate and caramel) and fruity (raisins and plums). The finish is slightly hoppy and smoked.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2004 An excellent, if far to little known Czech brew. A bit like the town it is from - Brno is a great alternative to Prague just as StaroBrno is a great alternative to Staropramen! Both are a bit more laid back and sleepy, with a rustic tinge. just another good, simple czech lager. Highly recommended

A smooth slightly hoppy semi-dark Vienna-style lager. Nothing intense about this beer, but it has a full flavor with very little or no aftertaste.
