Couple of 50cl glasses on tap at a restaurant in Badgastein. Served cool, dark amber with a fluffy white head. Full bodied for a pilsner, with a typical malty corn taste and a bitter finish. Went down well. I thought Id found my Austrian default beer, then I found out its Czech. Oh well.

Bottle 330ml. A clear amber colour with an average high, off-white head. An aroma of malt and hops. The taste is light sweet and light bitter. A light body, watery texture, soft carbonation and an abrupt finish.

Originally rated May 2006. Best before date on back label reads: 21 08 06 08:53 325 and purchased at the SAQ. This premium lager has a nice creamy white head with decent retention and lacing. It pours a golden-amber colour with lots of carbonation. The aromas start on a fresh malt scent but end up with some metallic water nose. The mouthfeel is sticky. Not too much bitterness throughout the tasting, but enough to satisfy. Bready malt with some refreshing fruit in the finish, like apples. Thank God for no metal in the taste. Above-average pilsner.

Bottle. Clear golden pour, thin white head. Aroma of grainy malts and some Czech hops. Flavor is grainy malts and slightly bitter. Somewhat decent Czech brew, but there are way better Bohemian Pilseners.

Pretty standard golden / yellow colored beer with a nice white head. Smell and taste decent but nothing special. Very lively carbo though for only 5%ABV. Low body.

Well, just another beer, just another lager. Had it, forgot it, might drink it again, but then I´ll probably can´t recognize it from just another beer, just another lager.

On tap in a near-by village. Good-looking golden color. Almost no aroma. Very hoppy taste, kinda watery, medium biterness. Poor average beer though I’d say more interesting than Gambrinus and the like.

On-Tap (Pint): Pretty standard for a pilsener/pale lager with a sweet malt smeel along with some grain and hops. A clear, light amber with an average thumb sized head that has good retention & lasts well. Again pretty common taste with a slight corn, some grassy hops & some malts in there too. Finishes with a mild bitter aftertaste & goes down well. Pretty smooth and easy to drink like most pale lagers. Nice, clean & crisp as well as being quite refreshing. Surprisingly I found this to be quite full bodied for a pilsener. Nice overall and very refreshing & drinkable although not the nicest in the world. Still a solid pilsener though that would work well as a session beer. - - - -
