COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark lager with an exceptionally fine taste which is talked about with recognition and admiration. Staropramen Dark is exceptional for its calming, full-bodied, sweetish caramel taste with gentle, hopsy bitterness. It is a taste you will never forget.

0,5l bottle. Dark brown colour with creamy tan head, that slowly disapears. Aroma: caramel, some fruity notes. Taste: yeasty, buttery texture, but too watery and mediocre (industrial) taste. Sweet malty start, medium bitterness. Light body. Medium carbonation, mild bitter finish. This is much lighter and forgettable than an average czech dunkel/tmavý.

Light brown, creamy tan head which quickly disappears. Aroma light roastiness, hops and nuts. Palate watery, carbed too high to my liking. Taste is roasted malt with presence of tannins, sour in beginning. Walnuts and hops in finish. Thin and watery but actually not bad and quite drinkable.

33 cl bottle. Dark reddish brown, thin tan to light brown head, crystal clear. Aroma of dark, roasted malts. Medium mouthfeel. Flavours of roasted barley, slight hint of some fruits and caramel. Some hop bitterness at the back, but certainly it’s not overpowering the malts. Good, sessionable, extremely drinkable all-round beer.

From tap. Aroma of sweet malt, roasty, and chocolate. Dark clear liquid, white long lasting foam. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Well tasting and refreshing dark beer. Medium body, average carbonation.

The dark Staropramen tastes from dark roasted malt, have a limited hop bitterness and a little flat end.

0.5l bottle from a grocery shop. (I actually tasted it quite a few times in recent years before this rating.) Starts with a nice, silky beige head and very dark brown body. Head is persistent enough to smell and taste: the former is rather neutral, a bit sourish, earthy, maybe. The latter (i.e. the taste) is moderately bitter and has hints of roasted malt and cocoa. The beer itself is moderately sweet with roasted malty character. Silky moderate palate and a bit watery body make it an ideal "drinking beer" and some hiding berry like fruitiness and grassy bitterness make it relatively complex. Not a beer that changes your life but surprisingly harmonic and well done. Could have a bit more bitterness in the aftertaste, though: too sweet for me.

A subdued aroma of sweet malt. Pours a chestnut brown with a tan head. Sweet taste of malt with a watery feel, light body and sweet finish.
