3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) With typical German flair for pretty names this is renamed "Staropramen - das Prager Schwarzbier" at 4,6% ABV. Very classical dark lager with a reddish tint. Limited head and a lightly smoked edge from the dark malts. Soft with a limited bitterness. Pleasant and easy to drink. I’ve also had this named "Staropramen Cerný" and "Staropranen Dark Prague Beer" at 4,4% ABV. 210499/190502/180904

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. According to the label, this beer only holds 4,4% alc. Oh well. It is a lovely dark amber with a nice head. It smells and tastes like liquorice. Really intense, black liquorice. -Like the pastilles, that some men carry around with them. Funny taste. But definitely not bad.

Served with plenty of CO2. Slightly buttery aroma. Bitt papery with burnt toffe and nougat. Thin body and sugary aftertaste.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Lager nose with a little sour vegetable aroma, deep brown, fluffy biege head. Light toasted malt with some caramel and oak flavors. Dry malty end with a hint of tobacco. Thin body, OK balance, but off taste overall. Not bad, not good.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: Dark brown with hints of red. Small head. Sweet honey nose. Malt and molasses taste, bodyless and flat - damn why did buy two of those while we only bought one of the better Garnet.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled. Roby red colour. Milk-chocolatey aroma. Quite dry, also a bit watery. Overall, not that good. One of the weaker dunkels I had in the Czech Republic.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is the lightest cerne I’ve had from the Czech Rep - brought this one back to America with me. Brown-red with head like a light beer almost. Has a good flavor, somewhat chocolately than normal Czech darks. This beer is eerily reminiscent of Newcastle. SIDENOTE: Dark beers are considered girly by Czech college kids!

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Dark brown color, mahogany hue. Weak aroma: some caramel and some roasted malt. Simple flavor, with loads of caramel, a touch of roasted malt, a bit metallic; high bitterness.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Flot farve; meget mřrkerřd. Aromaen er svag, ristet malt. Smagen er en anelse tynd, en anelse sřd og en anelse ristet malt. Eftersmag? Ikke noget sćrligt vel?

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled. Dark red colour, not that big head. Weird metallic aroma with hints of licorace. Flavour is bready with hints of smoke. Aftertaste is caramellish but bitter.
