COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark lager with an exceptionally fine taste which is talked about with recognition and admiration. Staropramen Dark is exceptional for its calming, full-bodied, sweetish caramel taste with gentle, hopsy bitterness. It is a taste you will never forget.

Great beer but not a knockout. Ultimately not as memorable as the Velkopopvicky Kozel Cerny beer, which is still the best Czech dark beer. Kozel Cerny (dark) did just win the gold medal at the Belgian world beer competition in 2005. Staropramen is great but not as great as Kozel. Compare them and you will understand.

330ml green bottle, poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is clear dark mahogany with a medium-small tan head, that reduced quickly. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and notes of minerals. Flavours of lightly roasted malts, caramel and a hint of chocolate. Taste is light sweet and light-medium bitter. Palate is light bodied, slightly thin texture and average carbonation. Overall an okay beer, I would have liked it a bit fuller bodied.

On tap, poured a clear brown hue w/ small diminishing beige head and nice lacing. Biscuity aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a light bitter finish. Tastes are sugar, biscuit, dough, caramel, and malt. Light bodied and watery mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Another one tried in Budapest - from bottle at hotel. The Guinness of lager?! Really delicious. Like a dunkel with more chocolate and malty flavor.
