2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Beutiful red-brown beer with a small head. It has a nice aroma of a good malt blend, sweet with hints of liqurice. The taste contains no sweetness but a very dry hoppy bitterness - for the bitternes level not a suiting hop for my taste. It too contains hints of smoked malt - a little watery in the middle. Not a beer I’ll have again.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The colour is intense, deep, deep brown-wine red. The foam is pale yellow with big bubbles and it dissolves really fast.
The smell is roasted with hints of sweet rye bread.
The carbon dioxide is fresh and lasting with small bubbles.
The taste is quite weak, and the dominant note is roasted malt (really nice) with some notes of nuts and pumpernickel, bitterness is quite mild. The aftertaste is short, dry and develops into a good (although not very potent) bitterness.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2006 Staropramen Dark Beer. 330 ml green long-neck bottle. Pours a russet colour. Clear. Small light beige head that fades away quickly. Aromas of dark rye bread. Also vinous, alcoholic, and sugar-like aromas. Watery mouthfeel. Tastes roasty and dry. Somewhat disappointing, although not a bad beer. Price: 5.79 EUR per litre.
