COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Staropramen Garnet is a unique lager that fully honours the tradition of our brewery. In the brewing process, which is based on the original recipe from 1884, we mix pale and specialty malts in the so-called "sprinkling" process. This gives the lager its typical garnet colour, gently bitter taste and full-bodied hopsy aroma

Amber in color. Smooth nitro head. Nose was plain malt. An unassertive beer that was nitro pushed in Prague!!! In Prague??? I was blown away. Seems like blasphemy

(On tap) Aroma is weak; hoppy and fruity. Clear, amber coloured with a lasting, off-white head. Taste is hoppy, bitter, bit sweet and slightly malty. This beer doesn’t really ’add’ something to the brews of Staropramen. Quite uninteresting. Decent brewing though.

sayravai (4667) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 1, 2004
(Bottled) Light amber color with a small head. Slightly brown-sugary, aromatic-hoppy aroma with some whisky-malt hints. Quite bitter, slightly wooden and metallic flavor. Medium-bodied, low-carbonated, bitter palate. A Czech version of an English bitter - just like the Dark is a version of Guinness. Not bad at all - just not perfect, either.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2007 Bought in bottles, Prague. Benefited from little transport, i think. Overall, very clear and enjoyable. Light enough for a hot summer day, but strong enough to make tasting enjoyable.

Reddy brown in colour with a sweet toffeeish flavour and some maltiness, not too bad. (Bottle from shop, Beroun)

Bottled from Hotel Berlin, Smichov, Prague. Light brown/amber beer, which retains a Pils-type look. Sweet toffee aroma, with a very light, sweet taste. Cereal and toffee flavours, with plenty of fizz on the tongue. This feels like a flattish lager beer (no head, no lacing), but it's better than that - there's honey and other stuff going on, and it's not sickly. Sacrifices crispness and dryness for a fuller flavour and is very cohesive.

(sampled draught at Ett Glas, Norrtälje, Sweden) Light amber with hints of brown. Big steady white head. Sweet caramel aroma with notes of spices. Flavour of caramel, toffee and herbs. Thin mouthfeel. Finish is quite spicy and hoppy.

Orangebrown with thick beige head. Herbal nose with a touch of caramel. Bitter with nice flavour of hops and sweet malt. A hint of vegetables (carrots, peas). Nice ending bitterness.
