COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Staropramen Garnet is a unique lager that fully honours the tradition of our brewery. In the brewing process, which is based on the original recipe from 1884, we mix pale and specialty malts in the so-called "sprinkling" process. This gives the lager its typical garnet colour, gently bitter taste and full-bodied hopsy aroma

0.33L 4,8% green bottle from Systembolaget Luleå Sweden. Off white head that soon diminishes on the bronze coloured body. Scents of hops, dough, yeast. Taste; dark malts, rye bread, some chocolate notes. Ends with roasted malts, a twist of bitter, faint hints of cough medicine. Overall decent polotmavy, as colour it is a brighter polotmavy than many others.

330ml bottle, pours clear amber with a medium sized beige head with fine bubbles that slowly reduced. Aroma and taste of bread, maple syrup, butterscotch, and a hint of spices and dried fruits. Some bitterness with a slight sweetness. Medium carbonation, slick texture and medium-light carbonation. I enjoyed this beer and will seek out to try more in the style.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2014 Sweet malty nose, hint of burnt caramel, bread, raisin, roasty, clove, clear amber to copper, frothy, small white head, disappears quickly, reasonable lacing, medium sweet taste with caramel, hint of fruits, light bitterness, medium body, in the finish stout-like toasted malts backed up by fresh hoppy bitterness

Dubbed my mothers friends favorite beer, simply reminds me of pilsner urquel or skunky green bottle pils equivalent. Smooth drinkable and unexciting.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2013 Light amber colour, white head. Sweet malty aroma, caramel, red fruits. Malty flavour, light metallic, sweet, caramel. Sweet malty finish, red fruits, berries, caramel. Personally I was mostly enjoying it because it was my last ’missing’ style within the present ordering on ratebeer.
(From 0.5cL bottle shared @ RBBSG II, Gent 2013. Bottle taken by a friend from the Czech republic. Thanks Gijs!)

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2014 Served in special Granat glass (resembles pilsner glass) at brewery in Prague in 2011 (from notes). A lovely, clear reddish-amber with golden highlights topped by a fluffy off-white head. Head has good duration and leaves lots of coating on the glass. Aroma: medium and light malts with some (Zatek?) hops. T - a rich version of a standard czech lager, with traces of the dark malt flavor of Czech tmavy (dunkel). A particularly nice finish featuring both toasted malt and hops M - medium body; good medium carbonation; slight dryness in finish. O - a fine medium—dark lager well worth seeking out

10/VIII/13 - 50cl bottle @ RBBSG II, my place - BB: 25/IX/13 (2013-744) Thanks to Tinus for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark orange beer, irregular off-white head, little stable, no nadhesive. Aroma: toast: bit malty, grains, stable, some hay. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: some citrus, otast, grains, sour touch, cow fodder. Aftertaste: grains, cow fodder, toast, little bitter. Not my thing. They make way better stuff in Czech Rep.!

Dark amber, reddish colour with off-white head. Aroma: malts with a bit of hops, grains, roasted nose. Taste: roasted, sweet like a dunkel, the aftertaste is a bit bitter with almost stout-like roasted aromas.
