Pale gold in colour with delicately flowery aromas and a taste in which hop crispness and malty softness combines to highly drinkable effect.

Bottle. Creamy white head. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice enough lager, but a bit boring.

Bottle. Flowery malt aroma. Medium yellow clear color with a small collapsing head. Sour malt flavor with a fairly strong hops finish. High carbonation. Okay but a rough finish

Artificial flavoured and skunky (blast those green bottles!). This one is a resounding disappointment.

Bottle. Pours a slight amber color. Head is white and fleeting. Aroma of Grass, just a little skunky. Malt with spicy hop mix up with the taste. Decent middle of the road pils

Pours an attractive golden pilsener shade, with a well-proportioned white head. Aroma is a skunky, grassy scent much like Urquell. Flavor is quite clean and refreshing, with a good hop bite and a somewhat cidery sweetness. Very refreshing and drinkable, but with a nice body to it. I’m glad to have found another good czech pilsener.

This Pilsener was a nice follow-up to Samuel Smith’s Pure Lager, as it proved to be more tasty. A bit more complex as you can taste the hops and malt in a swirling unity. It smells a bit like hay, with a twinge of skunkiness, and the taste is delightful. Light, yet filling, with a nice, cool feel. Highly recommended.

Aroma = slightly skunky, like unto perhaps St. Pauli Girl, although it is a better beer. Other similar beers include Heineken and Pilsener Urquell, but I personally somehow liked this one beer I think. It is overpriced but that’s probably because it’s an import from the Czech Republic. Its taste is lightly malty, maybe a bit smokey, and a little bit bitter. The finish lingers a bit. This is a pretty straight-forward lager but one good at what it does. I was pleasantly surprised, as it proved effective relief from recent, painful malt liquors...yuck.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2004 (12 oz bottle) "The Star of Prague" is not all that good a beer, and thus grossly overpriced at well over $8 a six-pack; It's lightly malty and smoky, mildly bitter, but fairly sweet, and not in a good way; The sweetness just has this "cheap, poor quality" character to it, and results in a somewhat cloying palate in the finish; It's mildly bitter, but not very hoppy at all; The floral finish just comes out of the blue and seems out of place; Sweet, lightly smoky and malty nose; Light golden color; White head is somewhat small on the pour and soon fades to a very thin layer; Not one of the better Bohemian pilseners, and not something I'd buy again, but unfortunately, since BevMo has this stupid no single bottles rule, I still have five more Staropramens to drink. Sigh...

Pours a golden color with plenty of fine CO2 and a fluffy white head and sticky lace. Decent head retention. Aroma is skunky and hoppy. Flavor is smooth and lightly sweet with a slightly biting finish. Mouthfeel is light and effervescent with a lingering hop finish. A decent beer for this style.
