Pale gold in colour with delicately flowery aromas and a taste in which hop crispness and malty softness combines to highly drinkable effect.

A bit skunky in the aroma, but the flavor was quite smooth with a nice medium hop flavor...tingles slightly.

In my neverending challenge to find one pilsener of exceptional merit, I’ve been urged to drink 10 Staropramens before rating it. Here goes: Staropramen has a snow white cap with some staying power, a fleeting fruit aroma. It’s flavors are well balanced and range from earthy to vines to pure bitter. It finishes crisp, dry and alkaline bitter. As with most pils, Staropramen tastes far more manufactured, metallic, dim, wet and earthy than exceptional ales.

Had this one when I was in Russia. Very light, too light. Considered a light beer in Europe and advertised as such.

Distinctively hoppy and floral, but not overwhelmingly so. Nice malt taste. Moderately full bodied, definately full for a pilsner. Slightly creamy, odd for such a clear beer. Slightly less hoppy, smoother, and lacking the strong ’crisp’ taste of the Pilsner Urquell, this is now one of my favorite pilsners.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2008 Bottle. Light bready nose, saaz shines through after a while. Golden, low lacing head. Almonds and bread up front, broad bitter hop profile with good aromatics, grainy retronasal. Light sparkly body. Grassy bitterhop aftertaste stays on the tongue.

Nice slightly malty czech. Kinda like Urqell with a tad less hops.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2004 Amber; slightly toasty, slightly metallic aroma but predominantly Saaz. Body is thinnish per style, with caramelly, toasty malt notes and background grassy Saaz hops. Finishes sweetish and slightly watery. Decent but I'm not as impressed with the quality of the maltiness as I used to be.

This was an excellent beer. Very tasty. Reminded me of Pilsner Urquell quite a bit, but was just missing a little something. This is a great beer. Light and crisp. Nice aroma, and nice flavor. I love watching the bubbles in these Czech beers. They seem alive for some weird reason. And more alive than other beers I have seen.
