Pale gold in colour with delicately flowery aromas and a taste in which hop crispness and malty softness combines to highly drinkable effect.

Barva, pěna, vůně a chuť vytváří unikátní senzorický profil tohoto spodně kvašeného ležáku uvařeného z 2 druhů sladů a 5 druhů chmele, včetně žateckého, který je srdcem tohoto piva. Znalec ocení typickou pivní vůni a chuť, které ve vzájemné harmonii dávají tomuto středně až silně prokvašenému ležáku příjemnou pitelnost, ležákovou plnost s osvěžujícím řízem a obsahem alkoholu 5%. 12 EBC.

I used to drink Pilsner Urquell years ago when I wanted a Czech Pils. Since Miller took them over and rebuilt the brewery with mostly stainless steel they basically killed the house character of that once great brew. I have tried Czechvar and a few others and they aren’t much better. I find Staropramen is the only one that still has that great Czech lager taste. It’s not as pronounced as P Urquell was back in the day but it still exists to a lesser exent. So as far as I know about classic Czech lagers I find Staropramen the only one that stands out amongst the class of International pasteurized Czech lagers. The palate I am looking for is a long lingering I call it "barley berry" or "fruit of the grain" taste that is balanced by a crisp hop finish that brings the mouth back to neutral. Something I can reach for a drink as many as I want daily and not have a blah taste left in my mouth. Code date is on the back bottom and is 1 year from the brewing date and 2-4 months old is acceptable. Being pasteurized its best in the summer, late spring, early fall when you don’t have to worry about it being shipped too cold from Europe and getting warm again distributed around the USA and getting a damp paper or skunky flavor. the green bottles in the 6 pack carriers keep it from any worries about being light struck, IMO.

Bottle. Clear deep golden liquid with small to medium white head. Aroma of grain, light corn, bread, floral hops, earth and light toast. Taste is very light sweet and light bitter with notes of bread, light earth, floral hops and grain. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Pretty decent for a eurolager; taste is nicely clean and the carbonation isn’t as high as it can be in this style. Crushable.

Clear golden color with a fine white head. Malty and herbal aroma with an ok intensity. Medium body and an ok carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness.. Mellow malty, some grain and herbal flavor. Nice easy drinkable pilsner.

Piwo z ładną pianą która utrzymuje się do końca. W zapachu i smaku lekko alkoholowe, finisz nieznacznie goryczkowy.

Bottle 0.5l. Clear light golden with medium white head. Sweetish aroma, floral with notes of corn sugar. Bittersweet flavor with notes of flowers and corn sugar, quite bitter finish, semi-dry. Light to medium-bodied.

0,5l can. The label says it’s made in Hungary by licence, unfortunately. Pale yellow colour, patchy white head. Aroma: Sweet, fruity aroma but I smell something artifical also. Taste: Unbalanced. Bitter and sour at the same time and I feel...I don’t know, but it’s bad. Well carbonated with medium bitter finish. I’m sure that the original would be better but this version is below average.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2015 Obfita, ale ?redniop?cherzykowa piana, szybko opad?a. Z?oto.

Keg at Van Mildert College Bar, Durham, Ł2/pint. Honey colour with a very thin, white head. The nose is sugary sweet. There’s some crisp, noble hop type bitterness to the taste but it’s largely dominated by sickly, buttery character. Not enjoyed.
