2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle bought at some street vendor in Prague. My bottle looked different, but im pretty sure its the same beer. Hoppy, medium-malty beer. Some hints of honey nuts, but mostly grains. Bitterness towards the end. Actually, for a hoppy-lager, pilsener, I enjoyed it. But that might have been because I was in Prague;)

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 24, 2006 This beer has a very complex taste: it begins with an almost fruity aroma followed by the bite of hops and ending with a rich grain taste. It acheives all this while remaining clean and refreshing. I tried this again under the name "Staropramen Premium Beer" and I can’t figure out if it’s the same brew or not; it was a while ago that I last drank it. This time around it’s an equally excellent brew, if anything it tastes a little bit less grassy, less fruity, and has a richer, fuller malt flavour.

Smooth and creamy. Drinkable, which is above average for pils I’ve had. Beats Urquel. Clean, decent malts. Slight citrus in saaz hops. Good carbonation in finish. Balanced but on sweetish side.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml green bottle. Medium golden with a disappointing thin white layer of bubbles covering the surface. Some grass hops in the aroma, funky malt. Malty body, some sweetness. Flowery hops deliver a little flavour and bitterness.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2004 Hoppier than Czechvar but only just. Not as grassy/floral hoppy as Urquell, which on a good day is really complex, but might as well leave that one for Prague, enjoyed fresh. Most balanced sweetness of the three, at least on this side of the Atlantic.

Nice pilsener appearance with a grainy, slightly skunky flavor. Probably pretty good in Prague, but beaten to hell here in CA.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle at The Fireside in Chicago. Bright straw/amber body, small but lasting snow-white head...quite smooth to tongue and nose, lightly grassy, honeyed and buttery on the tongue (though not from diacetyl), clean and bright. I don’t have a lot more...better than I expected if rather dull.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cereal malt aroma with some herbal, grassy hops. Clear orange-blonde with generous, frothy, large-bubbled head that lasts very nicely and recedes with fantastic lacing. Sweet, nutty, grainy flavour. Hops flavour is there but seems somewhat subservient to the sweet malts. Balanced bitterness in the finish. Refreshing medium-light body has excellent carbonation that just tickles the tongue. Bottle (green).

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a bright yellow with a small white head. Aroma in mine is skunked. Flavor is weak. Not much to even look for here. Run of the mill euro lager.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Light golden, clear, with a medium-sized bright white head that is mostly diminishing, leave some spotty lacing. Lots of bubbles continuously flowing throughout. Aroma of wet straw, hay, lightly citrisy hops and very lightly toasted cereal grains. Cereal grains give a slightly sour flavor, but the toastiness is also rather prevalent, giving a nice dry, yeasty breadiness. Very dry finish. Hop bitterness is very subdued.
