2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
(Bottle 50 cl) Comes as "Staropramen Premium". Nice fully golden pilsener with a fully head. The hops leave more bitterness than aroma. Actually a bit too harsh in the hoppy finish for my liking.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Beer number 8 in the Great Ayr/ Glasgow pub crawl. The Goat, Glasgow. No real ale, but I spotted some Liefman’s bottles in the fridge after we’d ordered this. Oh Well. Keg. Not unpleasant. Little bit thin and metallic compared with Urquell for example, but it beats Stella. Saazy aroma, thin mouthfeel, saazy bitter lemon finish, with metallic tinge.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: Golden colour, thin white head; malty and hoppy (hay, straw) nose; quite well rounded, fizzy; the malty taste ends in a dry, crisp, short bitterness. Not bad, but where are the noble, world famous aromatic hops of Saaz (Zatec)..........?

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught. Compact and creamy foam, optimal persistence. Limpid yellow color, much clear and bubbly. Medium grass and malt scent, simple and agreeable. Fresh and enough prickly taste. Fizzy and equilibrium bitter. Much adaptable and refreshing.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
The bottle poured a light golden sparkling liquid with a small white rocky head that didn’t last very long. The lacing on the glass was minimal. The aroma was primarily of sweet malt with notes of bread and a hint of floral hops. The initial mouthfeel is sharp, dry and crisp. The initial flavor is of malt sweetness balanced nicely with hop bitterness. As the flavor matures on the palate, the bitterness becomes more pronounced and the finish is a bit harsh.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I had this on tap in Bratislava, where it is served at most of the upscale restaurants. (It appears to be a class thing; fancy places serve Czech beer, and more modest ones serve Slovak beer.) A good example of the Pilsner style. A nice moderate hop bite with just a touch of sweetness. A light mouthfeel; refreshing.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 30, 2006 (Bottled) Golden color with a small head. Quite buttery-hoppy aroma with some fruitiness. Strong and bitter initial hop flavor, that blends into sweeter and softer towards the malty, honey-flowery finish. Medium-bodied, quite carbonated but balanced palate. A pleasant and well-balanced, easily drinkable (and forgettable) Czech pilsener without any surprises whatsoever.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled. The colour is yellow; the foam is at first big, bit it sinks down to a thin white lid quite fast.
The smell is rather strong with some bread-like malt and lots of sweet hops (Saaz?). Fresh - just like you would expect from a Czech Pilsner.
The carbonation is quite strong, a good thing.
The taste got notes of white bread from the malt and a balanced dry hoppy note. The bitterness grows into a fine, very pleasing aftertaste.
I found this Pilsner OK, it does it job but not much more. Can I have some more bitter hops, please?
