COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale gold in colour with delicately flowery aromas and a taste in which hop crispness and malty softness combines to highly drinkable effect.

Pours a decent clear gold with a sudsy white (bang!!..gone)thin head. Skunked hops hit quick with a bit of green apple. It blemishes the rest of the tasting. Grassy sour malt flavours. Hint of spice. The skunk is overbearing, but does give into a medium bitterness. The beer stills very quickly. Ice cold is not so bad. Reasonable in the average range. The bottle was most likely bad.

This is a traditional Czech pilsener. Clear yellow color with a small head. Quite hoppy in the aroma and flavor and more full-bodied and flavorful than the average lager/pilsener. Refreshing.

Like most Czech Pilsner this is a more complex, and slightly sweeter brew than your traditional European lager. Ignore the beardy ale heads comparing this to Miller because of its "piss yellow" colour - lager is yellow, ale is not. Sometimes an ale is good, sometimes a crisp, yet flavourful authentic Bohemian Pilsner just hits the spot. Compared to its rival, Pilsner Urqell, this is not quit as biscuity and dry but. Bottles are OK, but this beer really shines on draught where a big, cold pint or larger glass provides a satisfying, refreshing drink.

Unexciting almost bland. It got a little better as it warmed but it tasted way too much like Bud Or Miller without quite sinking that low. A little platic in mouthfeel but not all bad. It had a richer consitancey then American Standard and was a bit smoother. Had a faint if pleasent honey-hop scent, that did not reflect its taste. Looked very piss yellow.

Medium pale gold with white quickly fading head. Very little aroma. Some malt and a hint of hops. Metallic aftertaste (? maybe with the green bottle it was starting to go off). Overall a decent EuroLager, but there are better Czech pilseners.

July 2002. Bottle. This is a lager I enjoyed - a neat balance of fruit and bitter, and a satisfying mouthfeel. Enjoyable. [3.0]
Nov, 2004 Bottle. Head to Head with Pilsner Urquell. This is yellow compared to Pilsner’s amber. This has a maltier aroma - sweet cookies. Soft. Flavour vanishes. The hops make a brief appearance and then slip away. Nothing really special happened. The Pilsner is a much more interesting drink. [2.3]
May, 2008 Can at the Prague Marathon pasta party Beer in a can tastes the same no matter where you buy it. I didn’t get this unpasteurised on tap while in Prague - most bars sold Pilsner Urquell or their own brewed stuff. It’s a standard pale lager. I doubt if anyone could pick this out as a Czech brewed lager in a blind test. [2.4]
March, 2014 330ml green bottle, filtered, from Asda. Sweet and murky - like it has been thickened with cornflour or butter. Lacks crisp bite so clogs up the mouth. Not good. [1.9]

This slightly reminded me of a tastier Rolling Rock. This is really not bad, when you want to cleanse your palate in between gourmet beers. Some nice balance of hops and malt, with a bit of sweetness that makes it very easy to drink.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2004 Straight up pale yellow and there is nothing here that makes this stand out at all. It's like the only way to drink it is to slam it. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

Why do some people insist on using green bottles for their beer. I always approach these beers with apprehension. Anyway, pours with a very light golden color and extreme effervescence that results in a foamy, undulating white head. Fresh hoppy aroma with a hint of malt and lager yeast. Feels refreshing on the palate and gives a clean, astringent mouthfeel. Slightly bitter hop flavors dominate the flavor profile and are met by a light alcohol flavor in the finish. Overall, this is a great Pilsner style beer.
