Doggythedog (940), Split, Croatia Jul 17, 2008 Bottle from some mall in Plzen. Dark amber, bronzey colour, with a small persistant white nitro head. Weak grainy nose. Hm. Light but nice and soft grainy taste, some sweet maltiness, bit dry, hop bitterness. Ok, beer, nothing flashy. Definitely better than Kilkenny and O’Hara’s.

Bottle brown, 500 ml
Appearance: Pours violet - pink - orange to bright orangy amber with some reddish beams, bizarre body colour reminding many ales of Irish origin not typical for Czech Republic beer style. Carbonation of the body is natural, gentle in its effervescence of a natural origin, the carbonation of micro bubbles is present on the glass wall. Head is pinky - white, initially huge, very slowly decreasing to small, thick frothy and quite regular in texture, there is also decent lacing.
Aroma: Very, very chalky with clean hoppy - herbal notes of Czech origin. Reminiding somehow its Irish relatives but created from Czech origin ingredients. Initially slightly alcoholic and kind of juicy malty sweet. Notes of grains of barley malt origin. Notes of cardboard and crispiness.
Flavour: Noble sellected hoppy aromas, especially earthy and herbal, essential hoppyness with nice bitterness binding your tongue. Body is bisquity and crispy from Czech broght malt, some notes of burned caramel malt and some reminding Vienna like malt. On texture is very smooth and easy going, some wallnut essence bitterness, very well balanced beer with notes of truffle, full and really natural honest taste of well brewed beer. Finish duration is long.
Palate: Body is medium, texture is practically creamy but could be even more creamy if the nitrogen was used instead of carbona dioxide. Carbonation on palate is very mild, finish feel is quite lively astringent from hoppy bitterness, mild alcoholic and rather clean, underlining the nobility of that beer.

Pours a nice, brownish amber with a medium, creamy white head. Aroma has caramel, toffe, lightly burnt toast. Low carbonation, a bit watery. Flavour has a little metal, is quite dry and softly hopped. Some sweet caramel in the back. Fair. heavy (459), Split, Croatia Jul 13, 2008 0.5 l bottle Doggythedog brought from Plzen, huge thanks! Well, well, an Bohemian Irish ale... It poured copper body with medium sized creamy ocher head. Weak aroma, mostly of caramel malt. Flavor as well, some caramel with subtle cofee bitterness. Body is medium thick, but fuller than I recall the style. Nice long sweetish caramel finish. Definitely better than other beers of the style I’ve tried (Kilkenny and O’Haras) and pleasantly refreshing, but far from something I would consider as a great beer. Foams like a certain kind of nitrogenated English bilge. Aroma copper penny, giving way to walnut, caramel, wood. Ridiculous bronze without visible carbonation. Cardboard, nuts and copper. Could be served up as Caffreys or John Smith’s without anyone batting an eyelid. Almost not vile. Well done.
